Sad and solemn duty

Kevin is, besides a firefighter and Marine, one of my very best friends. On Wednesday of this past week his 5 month old son, Christian Peter, died. Yesterday was the funeral.

No parent should ever have to face the task of laying their child to rest, and no parent should have to try and understand the loss of a child as young as Christian.

Kevin asked me to help him carry the casket. It is much more difficult, I now understand, to serve as a pall-bearer when two men can so easily lift the casket. Easier by far to lay to rest a brother, a friend, a relative who has lived a full life when it takes 6 to carry them.

It was my honor to serve my friend. It was also one of the most difficult things I've ever done.

Rest in Peace, Christian. You are loved. You will always be remembered.

I'm so sorry for your friend's loss. And for you having to carry the heavy load of sorrow.

I know a little bit of how they felt, as i had one miscarriage & one stillborn child. Although they never had the chance to walk on this earth, it was the worst thing i have ever experienced. And your friends were able to get to know their child, and hold this child & love this child. How much they hurt right now.

My prayers are with all of you, that God will comfort you.

Always a Friend,
Lois

i will remember your friends in my prayers - i, like lois, had stillborn twins and that almost killed me - i can't imagine the pain of having the child and getting to know him and then losing him - definitely a parents' worst nightmare - something no parent should ever have to experience -

I always love how you see things, always in true and gentle light. It was good of you to help walk your frinds son on his final walk.
Be well my friend, you are always in my heart and prayers.
