Definitely your strategy has paid off for you. Just don't judge others based upon yourself. People growing up in a village environment have a very very different perspective than those growing up in the city and it's time those of us in the city stop looking down upon the village perspective as being 'wrong'. Yes, it may be wrong for us city people but it's not wrong for them.
Almost everyone in the village has an easier time putting food on the table than people in the cities. Money is not the key to survival in the village, it is in the towns. This 'work hard' business comes originally from landless people in urban areas, or extremely densely population rural peoples (like those in India). Don't expect the 'work hard' idea to take hold until people in our rural areas lose their land, either through SABLs or through overpopulation. Then they'll work hard, you'll be happy they are, and I'll be sad that they've lost their relative paradise on earth when they could be lazy if they wanted to be.
Let those who have the freedom to be lazy, be lazy! |
