The first Melanesian Spearhead Group meeting chaired by Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama is confirmed to be held at the end of this month.
The meeting will be held at the Vale Ni Bose complex at Nasese in Suva on March 31.
Police yesterday confirmed that they are already planning to ensure the smooth running of the meeting between Commodore Bainimarama and his fellow Melanesian leaders.
Papua New Guinea will turn up in full force.
PNG Minister for Foreign Affairs Don Poyle made a courtesy call on the Prime Minister and Chairman of the MSG, Commodore Bainimarama last month.
PNG says it supports Fijis reforms and is ready to assist in any way.
Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare is expected to attend the meeting.
Sir Michael attended the Engaging with the Pacific meeting in Fiji last year.
At the meeting Sir Michael said PNG would respect Fijis decision on when it would move to elections.
Cabinet agreed to host the summit in the first quarter of this year with the decision made following the formal handing over of the MSG chairmanship to Fiji during a special summit in December last year.
The handing over of the MSG chairmanship followed the special reconciliation ceremony convened in the Solomon Islands last year, which was preceded on the same date by a traditional reconciliation ceremony to resolve the political impasse created by Vanuatus former Prime Minister in his refusal to hand over the MSG chairmanship to Fiji.
Commodore Bainimarama said PNG had fully supported Fijis reforms and would assist the Government towards the general election in 2014.
