Law enforcement agencies in Papua New Guinea have arrested and charged two foreigners allegedly involved in people smuggling.
Our reporter in Port Moresby, Firman Nanol, says the two both hold Turkish passports.
PNG's foreign affairs minister, Sir Rabbie Namaliu, says the two were arrested after PNG and Australian law enforcement agencies detained eight Indians and three Lebanese for illegal entry across the PNG-Indonesia border.
The eight Indians were repatriated via Singapore, while the three Lebanese, who are claiming United Nations refugee protection, will be assessed later.
Sir Rabbie claims foreigners are using PNG as a transit point, and says some are involved in illegal activity that could jeopardise the country's security.
