Did any of you PNGans living here in the U.S that there was documentary on PNG on Spike Tv. Well the documentary showed some tourist guy with a camera, riding in a 15 seater bus somewhere along the highlands highway. the bus that this man was riding in got held up by rascals on the road and he filmed the whole. now I dont know about how any PNGans would feel but that kind of news we dont want tourist to hear about. It showed a negative image of Papua New
Guinea. If youre a Papua New Guinean please try take time to watch this documentary and see what you think of it.

What's wrong can't show the desperation of the people

January 10 2004, 9:57 AM

It's great showing the desperation of the people. While those nogut raskols run PNG the average highlander has to scrimp. That's the reason why armed holdups occur. pOverty. mOre PAID work for people in pNG NOW jAMES

How would you suggest changing leadership thinking?

February 10 2004, 1:58 PM

To change the attitudes of the government and business leaders, so that people's needs are better fulfilled and rascalism is not the only option, what needs to change in government? In business? In social justice attitudes?

When poor people become middle class or wealthy there do they shun the remaining poor?

How should education help?

aren't we capable of serious thought?

February 12 2004, 3:43 PM

Its good of you to refer that point to Wantok Forum. But are you suggesting that we in this forum are not capable of or interested in a serious discussion?

You're probably right, but you never know!

It is not that people aren't capable of serious thought. This site has many views, but, I find that a lot of people do not contribute to the serious postings.

So, rather than have no-one reply, thought maybe get a response at the other forum.

Ok. One sign of new thinking is the decision to accept a total 230 Australian police and 64 government staff to work alongside their Papua New Guinean counterparts in the areas of justice, public sector management, border security and transport.

I don't know how willingly the "help" was accepted. But I do wonder if it will in fact help PNG if it was not willingly accepted. Is this progress or just neo-colonialism?

Hello out there..! WHere can I get this footage of the hold up..?

ANd I didn't know this until I read the post and I must ask if my english grammer is correct cause another person criticised my post saying I needed help with grammer. Dammit, the nerve of people over the internet. It's ironic to Reality.
