Australia's High Commissioner to Port Moresby says the arrival of eight Australian officials in Papua New Guinea marks a significant point in the bilateral relationship.
The eight officials are taking up advisory roles in the departments of Finance, Treasury, Immigration, Personnel Management and Customs, under the Enhanced Co-operation Program to PNG.
They will be given a week of in-country training before taking up their jobs next week.
High Commissioner, Michael Potts, says they will initially act as advisors, until legal arrangements are put in place to allow them to take up their full duties in line positions with the PNG public service.
