Asian Invasion of PNG

October 21 2004 at 10:29 AM

I would like to know genuine opinions, views and concerns from Papua New Guineans about the latest trend of events following the crack down of illegal horse racing machines and criminal activities in Port Moresby and other centres of PNG by the Asian nationalities.
There are a whole lot of criminal activities that are conducted by these people with and without the help of PNG nationals, such as:
- - bribing officials, running brothels, hirring hit-men to kill PNG officials, facilitating horse race gaming, money laundering, crime syndicate, tax evasion, etc, etc, etc,......
A very good number of these people do not have proper immigration approvals or documents to be in this country and they don't even have any professional qualifications to work at a professional level to leave behind something tangible for the country to appreciate once they have gone. Instead, they appear to add on the already alarmingly accumulating national woes.

My message is that for those of you PNG nationals who are behind these activities in one way or the other for your own greed and wealth, do you ever consider the majority of the country's populace plus other dignified hard-working PNGeans? Do you know that you are slowly being lured into throwing your own country PNG - a unique place in the whole wide world you call home everyday down the sewage pipe? Do you have any sense of guilt at all?

My heart cries for my beloved PNG - land of a thousand languages, tribes, cultures, and traditions ...
This is one person's (myself) opinion regarding the latest events in PNG and I am sorry if this message offends someone.

With great appreciation to your article , I am very concerned with the growing trend and influx of these aliens.I can only grade them as aliens coz
they have nothing what soever to here... Everywhere you go there is atleast a chinese kai bar of one of those things they call shops that sell chip, pirated, unlicenced electrical goods which can best be said to be nothing near to good. They just sell junk or better ****!

We must be very careful of these people .... Get rid of them and whoever they associate with...

RAUSIM ol !!!

Asian talk

October 13 2006, 8:51 AM

As a PNG born Chinese, I couldn't help but feel a little hurt by the comments concerning Asians. I left PNG some 15 years ago but still have so many fond memories of growing up there. There was a large Chinese community in those days but I only remember 99% of the community to be honest, hardworking people. I can only hope/assume that the earlier comments refer to the influx of "new" Asians into PNG.

How did they come in the first place?

I agree with the comments.Within the last 8 or 9 years the recent influx of foreingers have come throught the back doors of the islands of PNG,and they bring in these very cheap chinese products that lasts only for a days ot two and is thrown away, most of them end in the streets of port moresby and at Ela Bleach. They are also sending money back to China land!!!Png government should tell them all to get out before we have another Solomon island situation on our door steps!!!!
