| I'm an Alabama fan born and raised but I have something to say that no one else seems to be noticing. Bear with me here its gonna be a slightly long post.
Everyone seemed to think (and rightfully so) that Auburns version of the spread last year sucked. Lets have a look at why. It's really pretty cut and dry, they just didn't have the skill position players needed to run that type of pass happy offense. I think there were really only three players that actually fit that scheme; Mario Fannin, Kodi Burns, and Ben Tate. Notice theres no receivers there. Not to say that they didn't have any good ones, but they just didn't have the speed or the acceleration needed to create any separation.
My whole point is that they didn't have the skill player to use Tony Franklins offense and so the Alum got in an uproar and fired one of the best Aubie coaches of all time. Now they're running a new version of the spread with practically the same personnel but with a twist they simply had the ball to two of the most dynamic running backs in the nation. Just look at it like this, they're doing the same thing they did three years ago, except now they just hand it off a little deeper in the backfield and throw it when they have to.
I guess the reason for this little bit of diatribe is that everyone seems to think its amazing that Auburn has made this big of a turn around and all I can say is its not surprising. Same team, same focus on offense, and a defense that consistently ends up in the middle of the pack.
Now that, thats over with...... Tennessee sucks, and I hate the Barners... Roll Tide Roll. We're coming piggies.
