the composition of member states to the csw or any other un committees/sub-committees is thru equitable geographical distribution.. meaning fair and equal representation from the different regions of the world.. at the un, png is a member of the asia/pacific group..

if png thinks it is capable of meaningfully contribute in this forum, the government (thru Com. Dev. dept) can identify and nominate a suitably qualified candidate and then lobby for support from bilateral partners and other members from within the asia/pacific group for endorsement.. if the candidate receives the backing of at least more than 1/3 of the membership, she stands in good stead to be elected..

it not entirely “wishful thinking”.. you never know until you’ve made the effort..
