Women in PNG are not that worse off compare to some middle eastern nations. Png Women have the right to participate in nearly every aspect of life. Compare to your sisters in those middle eastern countries, where No right is given to them -even going to school, whom to marry, what to wear etc. So where is the problem in PNG women. You just need to work that out. In PNG its is a cultural thing.Woman's roles and their places are rooted within our generational culture. Its not imposed by religion or we by western decocracy system we adopt.
PNG Woman have the doors and means to be successful or be respected as equal in our PNG.
comments by some - comparing PNG to other developed nations is a long shoot. These develpoed nations have had women movements for decades and nearly all their women are educated as men at the same level. So they are on equal footing to complete for jobs, politics etc.
Work from the beginning - respect who is the Giver and whose role is to take or the Taker. Just been educated (modern education) means women will have to be appointed to some roles with goverment/companies basing argurments on fairness and equality. Wait a minute.
Women back in the villages are well learnt- who can weave a bilum, mat, do a clay pot etc much more skilled than a paper educated. Want to change all this will take time
