| In memory of Kim Obur, Regina Kati, Helen Pilon....
Today is the annivesary of the passing of one of our early women warriors for the cause of women. I recall her and hold 1 second silence in respect of her memory.
She is Kim Obur Okello, meri Baimuru marit long africa. One of our PNG women elite. She was more renowned for her involvment with the "Women In Politcs" organisation.
I remember also Regina Kati who passed away recently. Also one of PNG women elite. Her contribution was more in the field of education and workers union. Meri Simbu, wanpla strongpela meri.
Amoungst the number that passed on, was our sister Helen Pilon. She gave her service selflessly to the couse for women and for social justice.
Many of our women warriors of yester years have passed on and not so much as a whisper of thanks is heard from 'voice of png women' the National Council of Women.
Ol Tripela susa, rest in peace!

Hi Meri Nating.
I was saddened by the premature passing of Regina Kati.We had worked together many years ago when she was at the Special School in Lae and I was one of the Board Members.
Helen Pilon I had also worked with on forming our Aids Council until I stepped back as I felt that most of our local members were acting out of self-interest.
Tupela gutpela meri and I doubt that National Council of Women would be even interested as thy are too busy attending workshops and meetings at fancy hotels.
I have taken your advice and given up on them. |

I was in Hagen when Ms Kati's body was returned to her home village. There was a huge outpouring of grief at her death. A loss to the women of WHP and PNG. |

| No Happy Mothers Day Greetings? | May 12 2008, 8:54 PM |
It is amazing that the PNG Women's Board has not registered any mothers day greetings from everyone that visit the PNGScape forums. Doesn't that say anything? Doesn't that reflect the "don't care for our PNG Women" attitude? I saw only one "Happy Mothers Day" greetings on one board, not here!
Well belated as it may be by one full day, I wish and hope all you PNG WOMEN have had a special and memorable mothers day celebration on the day (aste Sunday 11th May). This goes to our grandmothers, mothers, young mothers and mothers to be, including the stepmothers/wasmamas!!!!
Motherhood is a special and blessed calling, some planned, others accidental, others motherhood comes by force and through tragic circumstances and others still motherhood is handed to you as in adoption or taking care of children orphaned.
In all, women have shown their inherent love and strength as nurtures and carers of human races' young ones...and PNG women are no lessor in this quality than our other sisters of the world...for this I salute all women of PNG.
Happy Mothers Day!!!!
I have seen many mothers being beaten up at the hands of their husbands, during this day too, and I feel for them. I have witnessed many mothers toiling as usual on the day just to keep her young ones fed and have a roof over their head. To these women, mothers day is just another day ..but may I say these are the rock and may they be blessed for the sacrifices they are going through for their loved little ones.
Happy Mothers Day one and all!!!!
