Woman gets car as present
The National, Tuesday 15th May 2012
IT was an emotional moment for a mother from Ialibu, Southern Highlands, when she was given a car on Motherís Day.
Lucy Taie, in her early 40s, wept openly when lawyer Joe Kemaken surprised her with the expensive gift.
Kemaken, who is the principal owner of Kemaken Lawyers, had established relationship with Taie since 1989.
He said the Ialibu woman was like a sister to him who had cared and raised his children who were now all grown-ups and working.
The lawyer from East Sepik (Wosera-Gawi) treats Taie like a biological sister.
Kemaken said it was a tough decision for him and his wife Barbara on what to buy Taie as a Mothers Day present.
They have regarded her as their best friend for 27 years.
And to prove that, they bought her the Hyundai car as a present to remember for the rest of her life.
Taie was at her 9-Mile home when Kemaken came to tell her to go and pick up her gift at 5-Mile.
She said she was lost for words when told that her gift was a car.
Taie hugged the Kemakens and cried.
She said it was a wonderful Motherís Day present.
