This is the very reason why the 22 reserve seat was debeated against by some of the crtics and MPs like former MP for Lae Open, Bart Philimon on the floor of parliament.

Women should not seek for free hand out...you have to fight for it as the male counterparts.

And now there is no doubt that two women has justified the arguments and that every woman who aspire to represent the girls and women folk in parliament must go through the democratic processes as the two women candidates have done.

This must be debeated again on the floor of parliament to do away with the idea of "22 reserve seats for women in PNG" which is undemocratic.

Please do a mathematical calculation. In the late 1970's PNG had a bit less than 1% of parliament being women's representatives. Now it has 1.8% after 38 years.

Please tell me how many more years does it look like, at the current rate, women will be represented in the same percentage that they exist in the population (roughly 50%).

Forget about the mathematical calculation to reach 50%. That doesn't make any sense. Number is not the solution. We need quality and competency. The two women winning this term's elections is because of their competence, intelligence, experience and smartness. If other women and young aspiring girls can aim high and work twice as hard as the male folk, I beleive nothing will stop them from being elected into parliament. It is not the matter of numbers in here, what we need is the quality and the effectiveness of the services and the competency that these couple of ladies can provide. They can do the job of the 50% women if they are smart and competent. PNG don't neccessarily need numbers but quality.

The reason why Obama is president of USA today is that special allocations and treatments were given to black Americans for many years starting after Martin luther king. That special treatment paid off, now they say it is time to withdraw the special treatment for black people in america. That may be ok now they have succeeded.

PNG women need the same kind of special treatment as black americans to make sure that there is equality.

Anna is actually a very dedicated, giving person to many causes, especially in health and to her beloved mekeo people. At the same time, they have allowed to flourish postings or writings that they agree with. That is a form of corruption and one that became dominate on pngscape these past few years.

This is the danger with giving anyone too much power and not keeping them sufficiently in check under watchful eyes. It is a story of a good person corrupted by a bad system. Hopefully Anna is now gone from pngscape but lets celebrate her for the good things she has done and continues to do outside of pngscape.
