DREGERHAFFEN SECONDARY APPEAL

TO ALL EX STUDENTS AND KIND HEARTED HELPERS

Current affairs at one of the country's oldest high schools (now secondary high school) do not look healthy for the school.

This is Dregerhaffen Secondary School in the Finschaffen District, Morobe Province. This school has few seroius problems affecting its normal operations currently:

1. There are two school Pricipals, one is legigimate and the other is not.
2. Five teachers appointed by the Morobe Education Board have not been allowed to teach but they have been on fortnight and living at the school. This is due to problem 1 (above).
3. Local contrcators who have been engaged to construct school buildings (total cost at K2.3 million) have not been paid and they are threatening to burn down the new partly completed buildings.
4. Water supply to the school has been cut.
5. Power supply to the school has been cut by PNG Power due to non payment of bills.
6. Due to unavailablility of power, thieves are entering school buuildings in the nights and stealing whatever they can from the school.

The above problems are affecting current students attending this school. Grade 10 and 12 exams are approaching, peace and normalcy need to be restored at this school.

It is suggested that parents of current students, teachers, the school's board of governors, local community leaders, the Morobe Provincial education authorities, the local Member for Finchaffen, the Governor for Morobe, the national Department of Education and the national Minister for Education should all attend to addressing current problems faced by Dregerhaffen Secondary School as mentioned above.

Please help discuss this issue to rescue Dregerhaffen from its current problems so that normal operations of the school resumes for the benefit of our young children (potential future leaders) who are currently attending this school.
