You can find out more about this watch on Lange's official website. It is an unique watch for a great cause. Personally I think the guilloche dial looks great with the rose gold case, but the only regret I have is that one needs a pretty deep pocket for this watch as the starting bid is 20,500 Euros. It would be great though if a fellow Purist can end up with this piece.

Regards,

the true essence of the watch; at least imho. A great cause indeed. I hope someone 'here' get's it, so that we can enjoy a couple pictures more!

The Lange 1 Honoris Causa is a unque model created specially for an auction to take place from Feb 22-March 2 on Lange's web site www.lange-soehne.com. The auction will be in favor of the "Heart for Heart – Foundation for Life", which will use the proceeds to give a Sri Lankan child with a cardiac disorder a new lease on life.

The watch will be provided with a solid back with the future owner's initials engraved on it along with the words "Limited 1/1", an extra saphire crystal back will also be provided.

The highest bidder will be invited to Lange's headquarters in Glashütte, where she or he will be presented with the watch and offered a tour of the manufactory. They will also invite the successful bidder to visit Saxony‘s capital, Dresden.

"Heart for Heart – Foundation for Life!" is specialised in prophylactic, diagnostic, and curative measures as well as the promotion of science and research in the field of cardiovascular diseases and heart surgery. The foundation also funds heart operations with subsequent rehabilitation as well as other heart treatments and diagnostic measures for indigent patients, especially children around the world

Bravo!

This looks to me a lot better than the
usual "limited edition" watches. It provides
real exclusivity in a fine watch, while
also serving a social good.

Why didn't "somebody" think of this before?

Let's hope it sets a precedent!

I believe IWC did something similar a few years ago. What's interesting to note

is that the auction will be held on their web site which shows the interest and importance Lange put in this media so double kudos to them

i don't like it very much.
This guilloché dial takes away some simplicity that the regular L1 has.

But like every Lange watches, they look much better in real than on pictures.

Anyway, this is a nice gesture from Lange.
