The Tremec 3550 is will bolt on to an FE bellhousing, BUT you have to do one of 2 things. Either buy the $90 3/4" adapter plate, OR have 3/4" taken off the nose of the input shaft.
I can't say where the shifter will end up in a truck. Also don't know what shifter you'd use, BUT I'd say you'll want the shortest throw shifter you can buy (Steeda Tri-Ax). After that, it's up to you to find a suitable shift lever.
