are you sure it is a mutt? ford did not change numbers every year. only when they revised something. you can have a C4TE timing cover on a 76 truck engine. and the D4TE block came with D2TE heads etc... you need to check the date codes for when the part was actually made rather than the casting number. the block date code will be on the bottom between the oil filter mount and the oil pan rail. it will look like 6H29 or something similar. all of the cast iron parts will usually have a date code including manifolds and heads but not teh crank. hawkrod
