Response to anyone have a survivor , correct 1961 330hp "INTECEPTOR" 390 galaxie?

I am fairly certain FORD did not advertise the 390 POLICE until 1963. It was the 330HP version as you mentioned. It came through with an iron intake and 4100 with the cast shorties of the period.

It could not have been the 375 as that was a HI-PO Engine and certainly not meant for extended duty police. There were also POLICE PACKAGES prior to 1963 and I am fairly certain that the 61/62 was the 330HP. The POLICE PACKAGE varied greatly depending on how the agency needed the car equipped. They could be had with a 223CI if it was a local agency and they did not need something for pursuit duty. Same on suspension, etc. It depended on how the car was ordered.

While the P 390 330HP was an unspoken option in the FORD line, it was a readily available optional engine in the MERC.
