Have a very original 67 mustang 390 gt...the very original engine was overhauled by the previous owner...but the ex.valves weren't replaced (smart, huh?). Lucky me, trashed one cylinder and cracked the block.

Want to keep everything as near original as possible. The casting says S C6AE-9425-G, will use the gt heads and original manifolds.

Where do I find a reasonable short block that will fit.....

Any and all suggestions are welcomed with thanks!

I figured I would point out that replacing valves is not something normally done during a rebuild unless it is indicated by wear. When you rebuild a head you inspect the valves and if they show no damage they are simply refinished and reinstalled. Millions of cars have been done this way without adverse effects so I would have to say yes it is smart. Simply replacing them because is a waste of money and not worth the effort. A new valve can fail just as easily as an old one. Hawkrod

Very interesting, you're the one with the experience....
But if I had had the choice, I would have replaced the valves with 100,000 miles and 25 years behind them.....even if they looked fine.
Unfortunately, I didn't make the decision......

If you're block is ruined, then you'll have to pay the huge penalty sum of $230.

Hope this works for you, good luck
