The cranks are the same as any other cast iron 427 crank, from my understanding. The reverse rotation crank will have some pressed in directional wipe marks embossed in the main seal area, and if you don't have those polished out, then you'll be wiping oil "out" of the motor if you spin it the standard direction. Other than that, it's my understanding the cranks are identical, and can spin either way.
I'm not interested in a side-oiler reverse rotation cam, but if you want to get rid of the door stop, er, I mean that reverse rotation truck cam, give me a ring and I'll send you some money. contact me at misterpsharkdog@hotmail.com
The marine heads normally should read something like this "C7JE" so the specs you noted appear a bit strange to me, but I have not looked them up in the book, etc. From what I've heard, the C&JE heads and similar heads, are basic 352 or 390 type heads, and can be ported and fitted with larger valves, and can be made to run very well. Not well enough to get into the record books, but well enough to rip a lot of rubber off the rear end of the car. You may have more to work with than you thought.
The compression on these engines is relatively low, they're rated at 300-hp at 4000-rpm and 438 footpounds of torque at 2900 rpm. Not exactly a boat anchor the way they come right out of the boat, but certainly not a heavy breather.
