just after Ford carlisle the 70' Mach was getting lousy oil pressure. After the pan was dropped metal was found suspended in the oil and I yanked the engine. Turns out that the solid lifter roller cam i had was soft and the rollers were wearing grooves into the cam lobes makeing metal until the #2 cam bearing spun as well as scoreing all the other bearings !! Luckily the crank , block ( numbers matching )& pistons are ok...had about 20,000 on the engine since the last rebuild 3 years ago. kinda sucked having to pull that sucker out so soon !!! Hope to have it back on the road before the first snow !!

I had my 428 do the same thing. I read that I had to have the oil galleys blocked off if I was going to run a solid lifter cam of any kind or the bearings would die a slow death. mine spun number 7. I am going to go back to hydraulics. Good luck. Jeff

Yeah, i'm going with a hyd. roller this time around , I had the oil passages set up correctly for a solid roller cam..I'm just tired of adjusting the valves at this point...i'll still take it to the track and see how it does..hopefully i won't get any valve float !!...Chris
