Hi,
I'm rebuilding a 68 side oiler for use in a GT40 replica, which will mainly be used for track day use.

It was my intention to fit alloy heads, probably Edelbrock 6007-9s.
I've read though that while these are a good budget head, they ideally need work.

So my first question is:
would I be better to buy some of these heads reworked by Keith Craft,
adifferent KC reworked head such as AFR, or
buy a set of Shelby heads, which come with bigger valves etc already,

Next, being a 68 block it is drilled for hydraulic lifters.
Should I stay with a hydraulic cam, or plug the block and go for a solid one ?
what are the advantages either way ?

So far, the rest of the spec goes something like:
JE pistons & rings (4.250")
Eagle H beam rods (6.490" long)
Cloyes timing set
cam & followers undecided
pushrods, probably compcams
possibly Ersons roller rockers
dual pane 1x4 mainfold (edelbrock or possibly Shelby)
750cfm holley
Its using a standard iron crank, and will be dry sumped.

Any advice greatfully received, as the sheer number of heads and cams available has me really confused.

Many thanks,
John.
p.s. I've spent many evenings searching and reading threads, and have no doubt you guys have the knowledge to help me
