Re: Bee stings, anaphylactic shock and epinephrine

1:10,000 CC via EPI Auto-Injector. Depending on the severity of the reaction and the number of stings. The rate of time between the initial reaction and death can be minutes to hours. EPI is most effective if administered IM with in 5 minutes, or IV with in 15 minutes. But we in EMS all know that unless the person has an EPI Pen with them sometimes, in rural areas anyway the delay for IV EPI can be any where from 25 to 45 minutes. Just waiting to meet an ALS unit. Of course you can become a wilderness EMT and if you were in a setting where help may not be readily available; you could administer EPI via IM injection; not a metered dose as an EPI Pen would give. Hope this helps.
