Bio-phone

by

Alex,

While I'm not certain of the exact model or make of the "bio-phone" used in Emergency!, there is a similar radio-telephone that was produce by Motorola in the late 70's. It is the Motorola APCOR telemetry radio. A department that I worked for has two and still uses them from time to time.

The radio is 10-14 channels, contains a handset (similar to a telephone) a small "rubber-ducky" antenna, and cables that allow you to connect to a heart monitor. Ours operated in the 468 MHz range on simplex radio channels and produced about 10 watts of radiated power - which provided amazingly good coverage in the Greater Cincinnati area. APCOR's come complete with a built-in rechargeable battery and a seperate battery charger. The whole thing weigh's a ton, but they're built to last.

I hope this helps just a little...

Regards,
Mark
