I am not sure the difference. I always thought that the hip was the same as the pelvis unless someone is specifically referring to a fracture laterally for the hip. The internal bleeding can be caused by damage to the arteries that run through the pelvis. In particular the femoral comes to mind. Hope this helps a little.
