Belgium - Les Diables Rouges

hehe, like our football team (btw, why is it in french I mean 60% of the belgian population speaks dutch). I sure hope they don't fly like our red devil's soccer team otherwise we're doomed to end last

Don't try this at home lads

From what I've see nthe Red Arrows, the Snowbirds, and the Russian knights are the best teams to watch.(BTW the Russian knights and the Snowbirds seem to crash a lot because what they do is so hard)

To all Americans: The Thunderbirds are horrible, and the Blue Angels do an awesome job considering they use F-18's which are horrible aerobatics aircraft.
EDIT2- I had Snowbirds in instead of Blue Angles.

Snow birds are actually amazing to watch. They come to Abbotsford air show each year, and everytime their show is spectacular. Thunderbirds and Blue Angels come here too but they dont come anywhere near to what the Snowbirds do.

"Blue Angels" have you ever seen them at an airshow ?

Crap, the F-18 is no good for group aerobatics. They are much more impressive on TV than they are live. But they do have some of the closest formation flights, but still the team lacks anything spectacular.

I've seen the Snowbirds almost every year of my life at the Canadian National Exhibition. They are a top notch team, with a very entertaining routine - the thing is it never seems to change.

I've seen the Red Arrows a couple of time and they were frigging amazing.

Sorry, but the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angles always bored me (even when the Blue Angles flew the Skyhawks) - too much talk by their announcer and too many boring high speed fly bys.

The greatest routine I ever saw, however, was by the Frecce Tricolori in I think 1986 or 1987. They were freeking amazing. Much tighter group manouvers than the Snowbirds and their soloist was actually conveying his emotions with his flying (he must have felt nuts.) I have never seen a better display before or since.

Then in 1988 that same team caused the Ramstein disaster and killed close to 80 spectators. Remembering the images of the Airmacchis coliding head on and the one that spun, in a ball of flames, into the crowd leaves my forearms feeling numb typing this.

Sorry for the wet blanket. I'll shut up now.

Actually the snowbirds change their maneuvers every "season". And they are still the only team that lands in formation, which for me, is what tops off the show.

Yea the Red Arrows are badass....

The best solo I've seen was an American though, an F-14, and I got to talk the the pilot and he was manually changing the Swing-wings while flying and rolling and man.... he was a badass. He did make a mistake though, broke the sound barrier and shattered a bunch of windows ....

Well, to be honest, I've never been to an air-show; but from you guys say about the U.S. teams being boring to watch: Ever think maybe they don't wanna do too many risky moves, so as to not risk crashing into each other, when this is just for show, not like their lives depend upon it?

I thought that was pretty obvious, but I guess not many here can see the obvious, or just choose to ignore it. :P

As i am British i will go with the Red Arrows.

However, the Italian Team is not bad (10 planes to), and you missed them off your list. The USAF team is impressive because they use frontline fighters, where as most other countries use trainers. However, i agree they are not spectacular in tricks just alot of formation flying.

I've seen the Spanish aerobatics team Patrulla Águila and I can say they are really good. The C-101 does a fine job as acrobatic aircraft. They do a complete show, from the take-off in group to the landing in group, loops in group, they fly that close that once they got to scratch the glass of one aircraft!

No I didn't see Ramstein live, but saw what was allowed to be shown of the footage - you didn't have to imagine much as to what was happening.

I know the Snowbirds change their routines, but I guess over the years, they all just look familiar to me - you know the big flying valentine that in the old days was "for the ladies" etc. Landing in formation is really cool, but of course you don't actually see that when you're watching them at a venue like the CNE.
