It's a shame ...
On a sidenote, dutch F-16 seem to have a high rate of crashes
that's quite nonsens, we lost one lately because of a bird hit, we have quite a lot of bird hits because our primairy air to ground range lays on a beach so the chance on a hit is quite large. it isn't about the plane or maintenance because that is excellent, only their age is beginning to show in the fuselage. almost all are losses are bird hits, because we often operate at low altitudes in bird rich area's.
it is quite strange that the pilot didin't ejected because is happend on high altitude, what happend is unclear.

Due to these little bits of information, I'm going to guess that he went into an extreme high G turn somehow and actually fainted, and thus was not awake to eject.
I could be wrong, since I'm no expert, but that's just my guess.
RIP.

My guess still has openings to be filled, as in WHAT caused him to go into a high G turn abruptly, so much to make him faint and lose crontrol of his body and F-16, long enough to crash? That's anyone's guess, really.
So, think before you judge, please.
I couldn't think of any other situation fitting the outcome, that'd be more reasonable of an explanation. Could you?

You dumbass finally you are learning to recognize the truth..no I think all of the 300 plus helicopters and planes that have gone down in Iraq and Afghanistan have been the result of lightening strikes and accidental "collisions" with UFO's (mostly missile lookalikes)..also all the occupation savages that die everyday are shot by accident or by their x-box warrior friends..like the Canucks being killed by friendly Americans..

You do realize that even the US military does not say that all aircraft looses are due to accidents? As for friendly fire, that is a part of war. It was much more common in WW2, Korea, Vietnam, etc and it happened so often that it was not unusual.
"Korea has not been the only battle ground since the end of the Second World War. Men have fought and died in Malaya, in Greece, in the Philippines, in Algeria and Cuba, and Cyprus and almost continuously on the Indo-Chinese Peninsula. No nuclear weapons have been fired. No massive nuclear retaliation has been considered appropriate. This is another type of war, new in its intensity, ancient in its origin--war by guerrillas, subversives, insurgents, assassins, war by ambush instead of by combat; by infiltration, instead of aggression, seeking victory by eroding and exhausting the enemy instead of engaging him. It is a form of warfare uniquely adapted to what has been strangely called 'wars of liberation,' to undermine the efforts of new and poor countries to maintain the freedom that they have finally achieved. It preys on economic unrest and ethnic conflicts. It requires in those situations where we must counter it, and these are the kinds of challenges that will be before us in the next decade if freedom is to be saved, a whole new kind of strategy, a wholly different kind of force, and therefore a new and wholly different kind of military training."-President Kennedy's Address at Graduation Exercises of the U.S. Military Academy, 1962

In accidents per 100,000 flight hours (the accepted standard for comparing flight accidents) the F-16 is the safest single engined aircraft to ever enter service.
The U.S. Air Force F-16 fleet achieved its safest flying year in history during the 2004 fiscal year that ended at the end of September. The USAF fleet consists of more than 1,200 aircraft assigned to the Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve and four major commands of the active Air Force. Two aircraft were lost in 350,000 flight hours during the period, which results in a mishap rate of 0.57 per 100,000 flight hours.
In comparison, the previous best fiscal year was in 2002, with rates per 100,000 flight hours of 1.37 for losses and 1.90 for Class A mishaps. (Class A flight mishaps, meaning those involving more than $1 million in damage or loss of life, but may not necessarily result in a destroyed aircraft.) The USAF F-16’s cumulative safety record over more than seven million flight hours in 28 years is 3.86 losses and 3.98 Class A mishaps per 100,000 flight hours.
During this recent 12-month period, a significant portion of the USAF F-16 flying hours were performed under demanding peacekeeping and combat missions around the globe, including missions over the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan, plus continued homeland defense missions in the United States.
The F-16 mishap rate has continued to improve due to enhancements in the aircraft systems, operating and maintenance procedures, and training of maintenance personnel and pilots.
The F-16 has the distinction of being the safest single-engine fighter and safest multirole fighter in USAF history and has the global reputation of being one of the safest fighters ever.
From the Senate Armed Services Commitee:
Quote:
As one yardstick, witnesses have noted that the Class A mishap rates for the single-engine F-16 as one example, have dropped from 10 per 100,000 hours to one per 100,000 hours

According to several sources, an American rescue unit spotted the crashed jet, with the pilot some distance from it. Apparently he was still in his ejection seat and his parachute was unopened.
