Hi, just recently the Spiegel brought up some nice pictures taken in the early 20th century in Germany. These were not "recolored", but taken in a very complicated method by photographing the same image with a red, green and blue filter.
The disadvantage was that moving objects could not be photographed effectively, and the camera of the firm Bermpohl weighted around 100 kg.
