WASHINGTON -- Thousands of people braved the pouring rain Sunday at Andrews Air Force Base, in Maryland, hoping to catch a glimpse of the military’s newest jet in action. The F-22 is “integral to the Air Force’s tactical aircraft modernization program,” according to Air Force News.
Air Force Pilot Maj. Paul Moga demonstrated his skills as an F-22 fighter pilot at the Andrews Joint Forces Air Show. The 34-year-old pilot was one of the military’s first to be trained on the $137 million Raptor.
Moga will host a new TV series called “Showdown: Air Combat” for the Discovery Military Channel highlighting various military aircraft. The show is expected to premiere in June, according to the Air Force Web site.
“We basically reconstruct classic dog fights . . . they actually find the old war birds and put them in the air and re-enact and get some unbelievable aerial footage. . . and when we put them on the air, I’m in a chase plane, airborne while this is all going on, yakking away and trying to give folks I guess a kind of play-by-play,” Moga said
