I recalculated the numbers to 2007 US$ & this is how much each war would have cost today
Revolutionary War - $ 1.8 Billion
War of 1812 - $ 1.4 Billion
Mexican War - $ 1.9 Billion
Civil War - $ 81 Billion
Spanish/American War - $ 7 Billion
WW1 - $ 333 Billion
WW2 - $ 3.4 Trillion
Korean War - $ 538 Billion
Vietnam War - $ 944 Billion
Gulf War 1 - $ 97 Billion
Thats arround 5.4 Trillion
so you see, the Iraq war is still far from overcomeing ALL the other US wars together.
At most, it will become the 2nd most expensive one, after WW2 & displacing the Vietnam to place 3

What a waste of money.

I think the really eye opening fact that will come out of this will be the percentage of funds that were provided to outside contractors for various services (I am guessing it will be about 25 - 45% of the total). So in effect the Iraq war has been a massive subsidy to (well-connected) businesses...the US a bastion of capitalism, right...

Interestingly enough, in previous wars such as Vietnam, taxes were raised to pay for the expense, not so this time. Spend, spend, spend, but cut taxes. The stupidity of that is clearly apparent.
Hopefully Bush will be out on his a$$ before he can do any more damage.

Well.. forget about how much things cost... is all about what you can afford...
the questions here should be:"can america afford it now?" ... if you are rich everything is cheap... but if you are poor... everything is expensive... think in relation...
