Didn't expect the digatized camo, I wonder if thats a one off for the parade, or a new direction the PLA will be heading, as far as I know, the Republic of China is the only nation I know that uses digatized camo on a wide scale basis for its armored vehicles, specifically the new Clouded Leopard APC's.

Just a little factoid, but ZBD-97 IFV production has actually been kinda low as of late, reportedly the PLA is unhappy over the price of the unit, its prohibitive to replace the Type 86, which is really the same thing the Russians found with the BMP-3. On a cost basis, its quite a bit much to replace the lasting BMP-1 and BMP-2's.

So they are devoping a new IFV with more or less the same armament, reportedly the turret componenets have been simplified to ease manufacture while the FCS has been revampped, and as you can tell, the chassis looks more like a western one, perhaps smaller then the ZBD-97 chassis................I was wondering if the new type IFV would show face during the parade, but given the presense of the ZBD-97, I doubt it..................I hope the Type 99A2 shows up though.

The DH-10 LACM was on display for the first time during last night's rehearse for the PRC's 60th anniversary of the nation's founding near Tiananmen square.

This secretive project was first reported in 2004 and according to the 2008 edition of the "Military Power of the People's Republic of China" (here) the 2nd Artillery Corps has an estimated 50 to 250 missiles with about 20 to 30 launchers under its command.

The DH-10 LACM has an estimated a range of more than 1,500km and likely to be equipped with an integrated inertial navigation system/Global Positioning System, supplemented by a terrain contour mapping system and digital scene-matching terminal-homing system able to provide a circular error probable (CEP) of 10m.

Together with YJ-63, they formed the PLA's "stand-off, precision strike" package against high value targets -- a capability that was inspired by the US's success in the recent Gulf Wars.

I love how the Chinese still use white wall tires. It reminds me of the 50's.

PLA loves white tires for parades, its not like the generals have any fashion sense in the first place.

Its a communist block tradition. In Russia they dont use the white tires for the Moscow parade anymore (a mistake in my opinion) but the St. Petersberg parade and all the lesser parades in other cities still use them (on May 9 there are parades in every major city with a garrison not just Moscow).
