Okay, they're not starving, how dare I underestimate them. I mean all those floods and droughts couldn't have affected North Korea right? Through their mighty technology (seriously, who else can build such massive phallic missiles brimming with masculine prowess?), and divine powers from their God-King Kim, they can now grow food out of magic boxes. The citizens can now have all the porterhouse steaks and krispy kremes they want, but they haven't figured out how to recalibrate the magic box to produce other goods, but when they do, watch out! Also, the magic box has a "Juche-certified" security system that can recognize foreign devils. If any foreigner touches the box, it senses its evil and self destructs without a trace.

@hbn

And you are overestimating n. korea. Without international aid thousands of n. koreans would die every winter.

I watched a documentary about korea last month and the communist regime showed some selected well fed kids for propaganda reasons. But even those kids had brown theeth due malnutrition so they were told not to smile during the filming.

Mantis if your brain works even good as your English skill I have hope on your side.

N.Korea has 20 million people, suppose each one old and baby consumes 1 kilo rice per day that's 365*1KG*0.02 billion = 7 billion kilo's rice.

Let me tell you the most expensive rice in the world from Thailand is selling for market price of 1 euro per kilo, that makes 7 billion euro.

You got what I mean? a tiny 7 billions euro already enough to feed the people with the best rice LOL

N.Korea, not starving

JeuneTurk I am not say no single person in NK is not starving, there are, but just a tiny percentage of the total population, although starving for any one is already a bad thing.

The thing is the western media tries to portray N.Korea as a starving country that's pure utter bullcrap.

North Korea can feed its people... only if they stopped spending over 30% of their GDP and 80% of their annual budget on the military like they're doing now. Their spending is higher in proportionate terms than the Soviet Union during the height of the Cold War, so please tell me HBN logically, how North Korea can provide even a semblance of basic needs for its citizens? You're the one falling for simple propaganda. Ooh look, a shop with a shelf full of soda pop, no one must be starving! Except the shelves are perfectly organized with NOT ONE missing bit of space, because no one can buy them. There are thousands of eye-witness reports coming out of North Korea every year from various individuals and every humanitarian organization you can name, of mass starvations and death. If you think ALL of them are liars who are politically motivated to spread propaganda, you're delusional.

Trust me we have plenty of N.Korea daily photo's shot by Chinese tourists and posted in various Chinese forums.

All the facts show N.Korea as a nation is not starving.

I know you are biased not like me who can admit there are things not so good but also things quite good in N.Korea.

If you can google in Chinese type "True North Korea" you see the N.Korea from common Chinese people's view.

lol, me biased... I am Korean, you are not, as far as I'm concerned I may have distant relatives in North Korea, so I have reason to care. The sole interest you have in North Korea is that it's a protective barrier in-between China and the capitalist bloc. Of course you'd want to think North Korea is strong, after all you can't have them failing or you would have American troops right at your doorstep.

You know that every tourist in North Korea, and Chinese are not an exception, take a very specific pre-scheduled tour route? Precisely because they don't want you to see outside of what they orchestrate for you. I remember story of a bunch of tourists who were shown around a modern hospital, with the tour guide giving the usual lecture on how advanced North Korea is in every conceivable facet, they saw a "patient" in a leg cast rolling by in a wheelchair, and later saw the same person walking on two feet lol. Or of a "church" built to showcase North Korea's apparent religious freedoms complete with fake masses and fake actors coming to "worship", some interviewer asked him some very basic questions about things that even a 2-year old knows from the bible and the so-called pastor had no idea what he was talking about lol. All those pictures you've shown me of North Korean "commoners" either show wealthy party members or just people dressed up nice, fed and hired for a day to play by a script.

If you think I hate North Korea, you're sadly mistaken. I hate Kim Jong Il, and I hate his administration. It's not because he's our country's enemy, it's because he's the nemesis of his people, MY people, for the crimes he has commited against them. They deserve better. This is the sentiment shared by all South Koreans, you can't possibly think that the political situation and ideological differences could have us deny our own blood. A mere 50 years of separation can't change the fact we were one and the same for the last 5000 years, and we always will be.

Thats because South Koreans are always threatened and bullied by Chingpong backed Northies,,
South is not a threat to north,, only want unification, if the two brother can unite without force, whats wrong in that,,

Does China support the reunification of North and South !!! ,, if not , then its the villain,, US presence is only an excuse,,

Its that simple,, why we make it so difficult!!!

Ah yes, the Ming dynasty's puny token force being smashed out of arrogance during the first days of the campaign, and its follow-up expedition doing nothing but being holed up in fortress pyongyang for the next 7 years was of great help to us I'm sure. No, maybe you really are right. I guess watching their generals drinking, womanzing, and doing as much fighting as in a ping pong match, gave them a huge morale boost in hopes they could do the same if they fought well enough to be a hero. So to the Ming generals, thank you for your unwelcome stay in our country, for drinking our booze, and stealing our women. You are truly heroes and worthy examples to follow. If they were still alive today, I would have bestowed upon them my highest honor, the pubic hair of valor, but alas, I will not get the chance.

Lol, you see. That's the problem. You rewrite history when you become a little rich and arrogant.

You see the facts are, the entire Korea was pretty much occupied by the Japanese before we came in to rescue your arse. Yes, it's puny force by Chinese standards, but not by Korean standards.

You Korans were too cowardly to fight ever. Just like in the Korean War, Americans and Chinese had to slug it out on your behalf or are you going to say that Koreans were the real deciding factors in the Korea War????

I don't think 100,000 Chinese soldier was a small number for a puny country like Korea.

Plus, both Seoul and Pingyang were occupied by the Japanese by the time Chinese entered....lol Sorry, Koreans (you are our little cousins), but you suck at fighting....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_invasions_of_Korea_(1592%E2%80%931598)
"Intervention of Ming China

Ming Dynasty Emperor Wanli ÈfÑÉñ×ڻʵÛThe Ming Dynasty Emperor Wanli and his advisers responded to King Seonjo's request for aid by sending an inadequately small force of 5,000 soldiers.[130]

When it became clear that this was not enough, the Ming Emperor sent a large force in January 1593 under two generals, Song Yingchang and Li Rusong, the latter being of Korean/Jurchen ancestry. The salvage army had a prescribed strength of 100,000, made up of 42,000 from five northern military districts and a contingent of 3,000 soldiers proficient in the use of firearms from South China.

Ming Army's matchlocks,an early muzzle-loaded firearm used in the 15th to 17th centuries,.In January 1593, a large force of Chinese soldiers met up outside of Pyongyang with a group of Korean militias. By King Seonjo's decree, Ming general Li Rusong was appointed the supreme commander of armies in Korea. Li then led the allied troops to victory in the bloody siege of Pyongyang and drove the Japanese into eastward retreat. Overconfident with his recent success, Li Rusong personally led a pursuit with 5,000 mounted troops, along with a small force of Koreans, but was ambushed near Pyokje by a large Japanese formation of nearly 40,000. Li escaped when relief force of 5,000 arrived and the Japanese were officially retreated from Pyongyang.

Seriously, if the South Koreans wanted to re-unite all they have to do is to dismantle the DMZ and allow North Koreans to flood in.

The fact is South Korea won't do it because of the cost. Germany was re-united when people in the East started crossing the border in droves. There is no reason why South Korea do the same.

LOL.

Dude, India is a genetically inferior nation. The evidence is all there.

LOL

1. India is a DEMOCRACY that is THREE times poorer than commie China. Only other democracies in Africa can be that much poorer than an East Asian state fvcked up by communism.

2. India as a country of 1.1 billion cannot win more than 1 or 2 or maybe 3 medals (once in our lifetime) per Olympics. That is a sign of futility that cannot be explained away by indifference. There is no way that out of 1.1 billion people, that people don't try to do better at sports as a way to better themselves. Also India sends a team to every Olympics so obviously, they try to compete. It is genetic inferiority that keeps them from competing.

3. India has the same average skin color as the poorest and most incompetent nations on earth. Obviously skin color is genetics.

Dude, you can't ignore these facts. LOL

Really, do you know that US has tens of thousands of troops stationed in S.Korea while China doesn't have any troops in N.Korea?

Cause China doesn't need put them in NK, they can just come across the border. Where are the US going to put the troops? In the ocean? How about NK? That would solve a lot of problems lol....

Rewriting history? I think you have us mixed up with another neighbor of yours. Rather, it's the sad mix of commie education and heavy wikipedia reliance that is to blame here. As for sucking in a fight, well let's just say in the schoolyards, those little Chinese kids with thick glasses lies at the very bottom of the food chain, always being dominated and having their lunch money stolen by Koreans lol. Hence their obsessioin with big bombs that go kablaam and giant phallic missiles to make up for their loss in self-confidence and inferiority complex.

Just open the borders, South Korea. The Germans did it.

The only ones closing the borders and keeping foreign troops on its soil are the South Koreans.

So blaming China is idiotic. China has no soldier in North Korea to keep the two Koreas apart.

If I was the President of China I would not do so. Pointless to help NKorea, what a drag to China. We could of used those food and fuel for ourselves instead of helping them. China should just take over North Korea, and unite the two Koreas under our terms.

I don't really think most Chinese give a damn about the fat little weasle, including myself. But the real issue here is today and just like 50 years ago, the Americans are using S.Korea as a camp for its hegemony in Asia. Both Koreas are just trapped in it.

If you ask me, the americans need to let go of the knot first because they are the proactive aggressive in this case no matter what excuse you give. Neither China nor Russia would let the Koreas united if the united Korea is pro-America and perceived a threat....

Putin will even drive the Americans to Pyongyang himself in exchange for some nations in Caucasus/Balkan like Georgia or Azerbaijan or Ukraine or Albania.

Russian does not have much say in North Korea anyways plus it is a useless nation that relies on aid, they may as well use it as a bargain for the places they do have much influence in.

China is the only one holding north korea up as they did not want to admit their mistakes in Korean war.

@HBN

Same race? Same culture?! lol, maybe that's your commie-influenced Han supremacist way of looking at Asia. I guess you're gonna repeat the same old story again about how Korea/Japan allegedly copied everything from China, man that's a real kicker all right. Seriously get off your high horse (or lose your inferiority complex rather), the term "East Asian" holds no more meaning to us whatsoever than global citizen, is that supposed to evoke some sort of cheesy perception of regional patriotism? Such sentiment is purely fictional and is non-existent in Korea, Japan, or even China. If it exists in the latter, it's only the form of a "Chinese cultural sphere" which reeks of brainwashing and arrogance. Such shut-in, intolerant mindset will get you nowhere, you can only preach about regional sovereignty and criticize us for harboring American troops, when your country has been the most eager to ride American **** for capital and outsourcing. I made it sound like it's a bad thing, but it's not. We live in a small world, and there is no place for such xenophobic paranoia.

The Japs should be grateful to us. After all, it was through us they learned about Buddhism, and we also brought them out of their little caves to teach them a little something called rice farming. They were little more than a group hunter-gatherers before the Koreans came.

In any case, every civilization in close proximity influences one another in both small or profound ways over time. But of course in Europe, despite all the similiarities and commonalities they may share no one claims the continent as being an "anglosphere", "francosphere" or what not. Such types of claims are unique to the conformist, ego-stroking education provided by an insecure communist administration lol.

Now, let me lay this out for you Mantis. Korea was at the very bottom of basically everything in East Asia, perenially behind China and Japan. Korea was a none-factor in world history until the last 50 years, made notorious because of your cowardice in the Korean war, in which Americans and Chinese fought on your behalf.

You are not some phucking super race as your pathetic government tries to brainwash you into. You are a mix of Chinese and Altaic people.

Your spoken launguage is Altaic in origin, but you borrowed Chinese up until very recently. Your language was only invented in the last several hundred years and replaced Chinese only in the last 150 years. In fact, a huge percentage of your language is borrowed from Chinese.

All your last names are present in Chinese.

All your philosophy, arts, architecture, civil system, literature, everything was borrowed from China. Korea and Vietnam are too countries that have unconditionally borrowed everything from china. Even though the Japanese borrowed a huge amount, they kept their uniqueness, but not Koreans and Vietnamese.

You are basically a mini-mi of China and nothing else.

No, they didn't learn shiit from you. They learned stuff directly from China or indirectly through Korea. Whatever they learned was not Korean in origin, but Chinese.

Don't take credit where it should not be due. Korea was never ever more culturally advanced than Japan.

Whatever floats your boat hawksss. If thinking that makes you forget about your own country's inadequacies somehow, you can believe what you want, frankly I don't care lol. Koreans are an altaic people, horsemen and archers from the arctic and Central Asian steppes. We are not Han farmers from the South, our physical characteristics clearly betray this, as clearly, the Han were farmers, not warriors, known for their short stature with unimpressive overall features lol. The Korean script has been in existence for half a millenia, and by your standards it's too short to be considered an independant language branch, lol comedy gold. I guess every nation that uses a language based on the alphabet are just cultural offshoots of Italy and Greece then rofl, every Christian nation a Jewish sub-culture lol. Stop making me laugh. Korea was a scholarly nation that kept to its self for hundreds of years, apart from the rare occasions when it had to teach the Chinese hordes a lesson or two in fighting. Just because it doesn't appear in the heavily euro-centric view of history that is so prevalent today, doesn't detract from the great status it achieved as one of the longest civilizations to exist in continuity. Between a communist education on a West-centric education that defines the world as Old Europe and a strange far-off land called China, it's little surprise that you would think this lol.

Only truth floats my boats and you obviously dare not face the truth.

Europeans states are totally different in that they had their distince culture, language, etc. Not Koreans. Like I (or truth said) said that Korea used Chinese language wholesale up until the 1900s (even though your ugly language was invented in the 1500s, it never caught on).

Sorry dude. Just like I said, China has been the top dog in East Asia forever and only fallen behind Japan in the last 120 years and Korea in the last 40 years. Trust me, Korea will never be the top dog of anything because you lack originality in everything, especially culture (the japs have distinct cultural attributes).

Japan was a fractured feudalistic society up until the late 19th century, so I have no idea where your idea comes from. They had little passion for arts and culture, all they knew in life was war, which was a constant affair from competing warlords. No wonder when they invaded Korea in 1592, they were absolutely floored when they saw our porcelain art pieces, and made it their top priority to capture and bring back as many intact pieces they could find. They never figured out how to make one lol. They were little more than a group of hunter-gatherers before the Koreans, namely the kingdom of Baekje, which had long established an agricultural civilization, taught them rice-farming and spread Buddhism among numerous other cultural influences. At the height of its relationship, Japan was by far the most active diplomatically with Baekje than any other country, no wonder when Baekje was attacked by Shilla and Koguryo, they even sent an expedition to help them fend off the invasion, even the latter two countries were supported by Tang China.

Just because they have some elements in their tradition like that appeals to pop-culture fanboy masses like Samurais and Ninjas, it has nothing to do with the advancement of their culture. Sure samurais are "cool", just like knights are, except knights were obsolete and disappeared after the Middle Ages the Samurai were still around even in the 1800s. When you consider that less than 200 years ago, samurai landlords were still running their little serfdoms and fighting each other in a country where the monarch had no power, and had no semblance of a working government, then you can see that the only thing the samurai represents in recent times is that of social and cultural backwardness.

I don't like the US intervening in a few situations, but stooping the spread of communism was probably some of the better things they did. That retarded **** brainwashes your people, looks to make your masses ignorant and retards your nation. We can see that with North and South Korea, like we saw with the collapse with the Eastern Bloc and the Chinese switching to Capitalism and liberalising its society annually.

There was nothing good for South Korea becoming Communist, whoever disagrees is forgetting what that ideology actually is all about. I can understand why Chinese would defend the move, but saying the situation would be better by having the Communists winning is stupid. Starvation, executions and going back 5 steps isn't a good thing. China has only gotten better after Mao died, not during.

Siege of Tobruk - One German POW said: "I cannot understand you Australians. In Poland, France, and Belgium, once the tanks got through the soldiers took it for granted that they were beaten. But you are like demons. The tanks break through and your infantry still keep fighting." Rommel wrote of seeing "a batch of some fifty or sixty Australian prisoners ... marched off close behind usimmensely big and powerful men, who without question represented an elite formation of the British Empire, a fact that was also evident in battle."
