Judging from those photos, the mock-up is clearly not suitable to conduct flight operations. It is useful in training the flight and dock crews on basic carrier operation procedures before the actual aircraft carrier is ready. A simulated hanger deck is also furthered.

That is so weird. So what are they gonna do actually land and take off the planes on that bldg? I guess by these pics we know the Chinese are gonna have a carrier soon.

Obviously not. It'll be useful for training crew members in flight deck operations though, pretty much everything short of actual take-off and landings, that'll be done on airstrips elsewhere.

There are much better options available if they wanted to perform mock carrier landing/takeoff, like converting existing bases to have a mock runway. Theres no way they would convert a building to a working runway, its just not cost effective.
This does show how incapable the Chinese are of designing anything for themselves though!

"After all, it could just be that they want to train their crews in an environment that resembles the closest to where they'll eventually be. "
Some interesting things I see in the photos...
- They have included the ski ramp at the end of the building, but the building definitely doesn't appear to have the structure to support any aircraft landing on it.
- It appears they are building several out buildings as well, note the steel building frame going up in the bottom right of the last picture and the amount of ground they have levelled and fenced off

And how would you know? Pictures of a mock carrier runway/platform did surface in the past before. Nobody really know what this buildings is for perhaps its a full carrier training center since the actual one isn't available for use. The interior of this building could be a full mockup of what the internal Varyag could look like. Mock up engineering rooms, command centers, simulation rooms, aircraft elevators, emergency stuff, defense systems, etc. Its better to learn in advance than to train on a ship that is just done. It would reduce the time to put a carrier into operation.

...is that the Chinese are determined to have a full scale blue water navy; however, they're going to take a "go slow" approach. They're in no hurry; they're determined to do it right.

Joon and I did not state that the building was useless, we stated it is a copy of the Russian carrier and therefore not an original design. You yourself admit its nothing more than a rip off. Making a building that is a copy of someone elses carrier design is hardly an achievement, especially considering how long China has been studying carriers for.
Really? Could you think of another carrier building in the world?
If not, then the STFU. LOL
China clearly leads the world in aircraft carrier buildings based on Russian designs, the rest of the world have had to settle for floating aircraft carriers made of steel

I'm sure the aircraft carrier copy made of bricks will fit right into a blue water navy... determined to do it right eh? I think the first criteria of an aircraft carrier is that it floats... ROFL

China does have another mock up for training. It is located at a windy base in NW China. The windy weather is needed since it similates the wind on the sea.
For this mock, no one knows what it is used for.

WOW! Look who's flaming the Chginese.
Come back when your naval industry will beable to sort out their own without ressortingto the USA for their design or France for their missile systems.
As far as we know, Astute and T 45 are beating RECORDS for not being ready and costing a lot more than they should for design fcuk-ups and technical problems, perhaps it would have been WISE to do the SAME than the Chinese for your CVF.

Well if you have been following what is going on with the Chinese navy you will know why they have a mockup of the varyag. That someone else carrier is currently in Chinese hands its only logical that they make it resemble the carrier they are going to operate in. I dont think the poster or anyone Chinese here intends to show/argue that this is one of a kind facility but rather to prove a point that the Chinese are serious about getting a carrier operational soon.
