The first of the 18 new F-16 fighter aircrafts for Pakistan was unveiled by the US today, despite of the concerns raised by Pakistan Army over the conditions which have been enforced for military aid by means of Kerry-Lugar bill.
The first F-16 Block 52 aircraft was received for Pakistan by Chief of Air Staff of Pakistan Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Rao Quamar Suleman at the Forth Worth facility of manufacturer Lockheed Martin. Pakistans envoy to US, Husain Haqqani, was also present during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Suleman said the roll out shows that the programme is "on track" despite it experiencing many ups and downs.
The first F-16 aircraft slot is slated to be delivered to Pakistan in June 2010, whereas by Dec 2010, all the 18 jets will be received by Pakistan.
The aircraft order is designated as "Peace Drive I," continuing a long tradition of naming F-16 international sales programmes with the word Peace, Lockheed Martin said in a media release.
The US was represented by Congressman Kay Granger and Chief of Staff of the Air Force General Norton Schwartz.
The aircraft order has been given the designation of "Peace Drive I.
"Peace Drive is the flagship of modernisation for Pakistan's Air Force. It is the latest configuration of the best fourth generation multi-role fighter available in the world today," said John Larson, vice president of F-16 programmes for Lockheed Martin.
As many as 25 countries have opted for F-16 with more than 4,400 aircraft been delivered worldwide from assembly lines in five countries, it said.

8 F-86Fs of No 19 Squadron led by Squadron Leader Sajjad Haider struck Pathankot airfield. With carefully positioned dives and selecting each individual aircraft in their protected pens for their strafing attacks, the strike elements completed a textbook operation against Pathankot. Wing Commander M G Tawab, flying one of the two Sabres as tied escorts overhead, counted 14 wrecks burning on the airfield. Among the aircraft destroyed on the ground were nearly all of the IAFs Soviet-supplied Mig-21s till then received, none of which were seen again during the War.

J-10b is a new unproven aircraft... it will take years of operational service to weed out all it;s bugs.....
F-16 blocks 60s are said to be able hold thier own against SU-30s.. which why i dont understand PAF went for this. alternatively PAF could be deceiving here and are actually getting blk 60s, but offically stating they r getting 52s....
just a speculation, otherwise this jet doesnt make any sense.

F-16 blocks 60s are said to be able hold thier own against SU-30s.. which why i dont understand PAF went for this. alternatively PAF could be deceiving here and are actually getting blk 60s, but offically stating they r getting 52s....

No dude, Pakistan will not receive Blk 60. Forget it.

Only their systems and weapons up to a point are better/as capable, Some Russians AAMs have a longe ragnge and dual seeker capabilties as for the Sukhois, all of them have superior performances to any Block of F-16.

It's 18 Block-52+ plus an option for 18 more, so a total of 36 Block-52+.
In addition, PAF is to receive 28 ex-PG III/IV F-16A/Bs, but 14 of them may not be released (under U.S Navy use), so an alternative may be set. Given the possible Egyptian, Romanian and Moroccan orders for Block-50/52, Lockheed Martin will produce this fighter well into the early 2010s. So it's possible PAF may order additional Block-52+ beyond the 36 under contract. Before the 2005 earthquake, the PAF wanted 55-75 Block-52+, so let's wait and see in this regard.

this has been the case with practically any American-Russian jet comparison. The Su-27 series(including the 30, MKIs, etc) have always been more maneuverable than the f-15's, but Americans decided to concentrate on weapons/range. I'm pretty sure the MKI's are more maneuverable than an f-22 as well, but we all know that in the end, being able to reach out and touch someone before they touch you is the most important thing.

Because these are fighter jets we're talking about, not loans from an Islamic bank, LOL. You can't barter goats, children and wheat for them...haha and even ifyou could, Pakistan barely has enough to feed itself!

Come back when US AAMs will have a 100 kill ratio; for the time being it is not the case.
And shooting Su-24 and 25, an alpha jet or Super-Tucano could have done it with Magic IIs or AIM-9s, no need for a super/duper "superior" F-16 to down an aircraft which is not armed for self-defense.

besides it is hard to believe russia can catch up to US tech in radars, jamming equipment, guidence system and so forth. they spend perhaps the most in the world in R&D and i dont see how russia would be able to catch up let along exceed the US.

WRONG.
F-16 might have downed at best ONE Mig-29 in Kosovo (A Belgian A-F aircraft).
ALL IAI kills were made by F-15 when it comes to Mig-23/29, you can have a look at their kill list in trhe IAF website, i think the typme maneged a Mig-23 though.
F-16 is not only over-rated in terms of performances but also mainly used for the A2G role with the IAF.

wish you could order the F-16XL(cranked arrow delta wing), with canards, electronic package from Typhoon, radar/engine from F-22.
Build to order, like BK, "your way". All in like 1 year, they have car/manufactured goods/ship assembly lines, pretty sure they are quicker than the ones for airplanes.

It was a Dutch F-16. I believe the Belgian F-16 were only updated just after the war. As always, the Belgians did nothing during the war (why does Belgian have so many NATO facilities when the country invests so little in its military and contributes close to nothing to the coalition. Seriously, I don't see why other "small" NATO countries like Denmark and the Netherlands, who do their, don't complain and ask for more NATO facilities, and thus $$$, in their country).
