Original source is Rheinische Post and when a German EF tried to come closer to VVS IL-76 AWACS
VVS Su-27 tried to engage EF.EF Pilots called for FAF to help and F-18 came as well.
Pretty weird case...
And of course 1st serious enagements between NATO and VVS since cold war...

After all it were two Finnish F-18s who intercepted the two Su-27 and escorted them back over international waters. During this incident with the Rusian A-50 there wasnīt any visual contact between the Eurofighters and the Su-27s. The Flankers were approaching very fast and the Luftwaffe pilots were perfectly aware of this* but they let the Finns play with the Russians due to the vicinity of the Finnish air space.
*Some media are reporting that ze Germans were somehow surprised by the Su-27s which is BS!
The only pics I can provide are these:
An intercepted Russian AF An-72 which identfied itself as civilian cargo aircraft...
And the well known A-50 (please note: no Su-27s!!!!!11)

German Eurofighters over the Baltics securing Democracy, Freedom and Prosperity
No kidding:The Luftwaffe invested heavily in new equipment for this mission.
The pilots are especially proud of their new PanasonicLumix DMC-FT1* outdoor digital cameras for close combat photo sessions with the intercepted aircrafts.
(*There are three colours available but I wasnīt able to find out which one the Luftwaffe uses.SORRY.)
So the usual armament of the Typhoons during the air policing missions looks like that:
Lumix DMC-FT1 as primary weapon...
...andIRIS-Tmissiles as backup for photo models who donīt behave.
BTW: Although the cold war is over and we are one big, happy family in Europe now, the Typhoons didnīt use the full capabilities of their radars and communications equiment during the intercept missions.
Like in every family there are some secrets which have to remain secret.

Thunder, this time you really are wrong. Those are Luftwaffe Typhoons and you can tell from the paint scheme, too. German Typhoons are the only ones painted in a grey that looks slightly blueish.

What happened to Meteor BWR AAMs, when will they become operational?
Will Rafale, marine and AF both, carry IRIS-T and Meteor?
Will RAF switch to IRIS-T and Meteor?
