The incident took place around 1 p.m. local time (0730 GMT) when a munitions depot caught fire by accident at an IRGC military base in Bidgeneh village -- located on the outskirts of Shahriar city and about 35 kilometers (21 miles) west of Tehran -- Iranian lawmaker for Shahriar, Hossein Garousi, told ICANA news agency.
The shock wave released by the explosion shattered windowpanes and inflicted damage on a number of buildings in the area.
There are no clear casualty figures in the incident

Yes Eric. If it gets really serious. I have no choice man. I dont want to be the person from that country that is attacked. I was always proud to be Iranian. Like I pitied Afghans and Iraqis being in Holland listening to news and stuff can't do anything. Having no damn country.
Whatever happens people. Hold no grudge towards ShovelBoy. Sometimes a person has got to do what a person has got to do.

Quotations by global leaders on phuckistan
British PM David Cameron: There will be lots of questions about what support system bin Laden had in Pakistan, and we need those questions answered
White House counterterrorism chief John Brennan: Certainly his location there outside of the capital raises questions. We are talking to the Pakistanis about this. It's inconceivable that bin Laden did not have a support system in the country that allowed him to remain there for an extended period of time
Our government is in fiscal distress. To make contributions to a country that isn't going to be fully supportive is a problem for many, said US senate intelligence committee chair Dianne Feinstein
German chancellor Angela Merkel: The al-Qaida leader's death has exposed some gaps in antiterrorism campaign
French foreign minister Alain Juppe: I find it a little difficult to imagine that the presence of someone like bin Laden ... in a relatively small town could go completely unnoticed. Pakistans position lacks clarity in our view
yeah in reality im pretty bulky. Kinda good for my age. Imagine me maxed out at 25. Phucking hot and mujahideen ready for sure. Yeah..Mcdonalds is pretty cool..you know..flipping burgers and stuff.
Anyway,I woke up like at 12:30 all lazy. I hear my mom talking to family in Iran. They spoke how in Iran they were busy with this whole possible attack thing. I was thinking meh nothing will happen. I make coffee go behind laptop I see this breaking news. No further info yet. Man,I felt the rush. The damn rush. Probably thats why I am active now.
Anyway presstv has reports of both Germany and Clinton calling for diplomacy. They probably know it would be big business. I am not even worried anymore.

Thanks for the tips. I will remind that when I actuall will work in Mcdonalds one day, which is like never. Anyway debkafile is saying ''dissident armed group'' did the attack. Presstv is not claiming that. It could be cowardly zionist attack without saying. But why an armed depot?. I wonder what Iranian response will be with hezbollah, alquds and other armed groups close to Israel.

If it was an Israeli attack it begs some questions. What about defense systems. If they went off that would be a sign of attack. That would make Iran make a move within the hours and nothing happend. Iran has to deal with PJAK/Jundullah and other groups. Iran will always blame the west for supporting them but it never made Iran make an actual attack on their own. It seems to be a chess game now. I will definitely keep watching news.

Here's what the Juice have to say about the incident..
27 dead after explosion rocks Revolutionary Guards base outside Iranian capital Explosion occurs in the village of Bidganeh where the Fifth Raad Missile Brigade, responsible for launching Shahab 3 and 4 missiles, is stationed; satellite images of the site reveal two large military bases near the village.
A massive explosion at a military arms depot near the Iranian capital Tehran killed 27 people on Saturday and wounded 16 others, some critically, in what officials were treating as an accident.
A spokesman for the Revolutionary Guards - Iran's elite military force - said the blast happened as troops were moving munitions at a base in Bidganeh, near the town of Shahriar.
"My dear colleagues in the Revolutionary Guards were moving munitions in one of the arsenals at that base when, due to an incident, an explosion happened," Ramezan Sharif told state TV news channel IRINN.
"Some of the wounded are reported to be in a critical condition," he added. The semi-official Fars news agency said 25 people had been taken to hospital.
According to past reports by Iranian opposition groups, the village of Bidganeh is where the Fifth Raad Missile Brigade is stationed. The brigade is responsible for launching Shahab 3 and 4 missiles. Satellite images of the site reveal two large military bases near the village.
The blast was so big it was felt in western suburbs of Tehran, 45 km away, witnesses told Reuters. Many assumed there had been a low-level earthquake. Some media reports said the initial blast was followed by a second explosion.
There were no reports linking the blast to any air strike or other attack. Tension has risen in recent weeks between Iran and its enemies Israel and the United States, which have not ruled out striking nuclear facilities they believe are working towards making atomic weapons, a charge Tehran denies.
On Oct. 12 last year a similar blast at a Revolutionary Guards munitions store killed and wounded several servicemen in Khoramabad, western Iran. Authorities said that explosion was an accident.
In recent years several mysterious explosions took place in military installations in Iran. Two years ago 20 people were killed in a similar blast at a base 500 kilometers southwest of Tehran. According the Washington-based Global Security Institute, the base was used to assemble and store long-range Shihab-3 missiles.
Foreign media has reported in the past that Israel's Mossad intelligence service backs certain opposition activists and underground movements, and uses them to carry out attacks. Iran has blamed the CIA, Mossad and British intelligence in backing Jundollah (God's soldiers), a group which has waged a low-level insurgency in recent years. Its members accuse Iran's mostly Shi'ite government of persecution and have carried out attacks against the Revolutionary Guard and Shi'ite targets in southeastern Iran.
I don't see how you are going to stop Irans nuclear programme with this crap imo. Mossad or not. These mafia style hits will be responded in the same way. But then again Iran has been butting Israels business for a long while now. Keep watching the news people.

On the contrary, SB, I would prefer that this was truly an accident with no malicious action by any party, if for nothing else but the comedic value and display of IRI incompetence.

But that is the thing though. Bomb blasts in two different military bases seems abit fishy dont you think. Or there are a few nervous noobs among a huge amount of arms. Maybe the amount of arms and the complex nature of the bases cause accidents like this, who knows. If this stuff has happend before like the source said, two years ago.

It may well be fishy, it is possible that the IRI government knows it wasn't an accident, but sabotage, and doesn't know who is responsible. Such an attack would make them seem vulnerable to their Western enemies, ahem, embarrassing, and would deem a cover-up as necessary. This explosion was simply too big to deny.

Lets be honest here. When was the last time Iran really and I mean really plotted an attack against the west. When it did,it caused more casualties. When Iranian scientists were killed it was mostly done by people inside Iran who did the attacks. That is a fact there is a small docu about it on presstv youtube. Like I said before what would this attack accomplish? Direct casualties against Iranian personal? If that is the case it would be silly to say that Iran would let this slide. Interesting to know what will happen next.

Iranian conventional stockpiles are absurdly old, and very, very big thanks to the legacy of the Iran-Iraq war. This is a country that hasn't had a major conventional order of any kind since 1996 too so their weapons disposal capability is going to be limited as much of Iran's conventional capability has atrophied these past 15 years and there is no evidence that sapper training has been an exception.
The bulk of their ordinance is of Soviet and Chinese sourcing and in excess of 25 years old now. Even assuming optimal storage they have to be retiring hundreds of tons of munitions a month now and this is a huge undertaking. Whatever their domestic arms making industry the stockpiles still need disposing of. This is a big problem for many countries. Turkmenistan had a huge ammo dump explosion last year that killed like 200 people. In Russia these old Soviet stockpiles blow up all the time too despite a billion dollar weapons disposal program being in place.

When was this, SB?
"The chief aim of all government is to preserve the freedom of the citizen. His control over his person, his property, his movements, his business, his desires should be restrained only so far as the public welfare imperatively demands. The world is in more danger of being governed too much than too little.
It is the teaching of all history that liberty can only be preserved in small areas. Local self-government is, therefore, indispensable to liberty. A centralized and distant bureaucracy is the worst of all tyranny.
Taxation can justly be levied for no purpose other than to provide revenue for the support of the government. To tax one person, class or section to provide revenue for the benefit of another is none the less robbery because done under the form of law and called taxation."

Or what Irkut said makes sense. Probably oversaw that. Just an accident perhaps.
provost Iran didnt really lash out big ever since the war. When the US upgraded 2,5 billion in aid to Iraq and halted shipments to Iran. And we know what happend next in an american base in beirut. And since Afghanistan/Iraq war I am pretty sure alot of NATO/US soldiers have been killed by Iranian weapons.

// S/B for the love of Christ, you read Debka File? It's complete and utter stupidness.//
Debka had an article a few days ago claiming German F-16s were training with the IDF in preparation to attack Iran. I suppose their much touted "experts" couldn't be bothered to look up the Luftwaffe's ORBAT on Wikipedia or scramble.nl.

A senior member of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps dismisses the possibility of sabotage in the blast that killed 17 people and injured 16 others at an IRGC military base in Tehran.
Head of the IRGC Public Relations Department Lieutenant General Ramezan Sharif said on Sunday that Investigations to determine the main cause of the incident are underway and the public will be informed of the findings.
The incident took place on Saturday around 1 p.m. local time (0730 GMT) when a munitions depot caught fire at an IRGC military base in Bidgeneh village -- located on the outskirts of Shahryar city and about 35 kilometers (21 miles) west of Tehran.
Initial reports had cited the relocation of ammunition as the cause of the accident.
The blaze caused by the accident was completely contained yesterday, IRNA quoted Sahrif as saying.
He added that all casualties were IRGC personnel and no civilians were killed or injured.
Yeah,I don't get it though. Don't the hardcore Zionists get tired of constantly bullsh!tting?. Such miserable people.
