Military cyberattacks have the potential to bring down infrastructure ranging from power grids to nuclear power plants to transportation networks to the internet itself.

Is Canada ready?

In the radio documentary "The Electric Fog of War," The Current talks to former public safety minister Stockwell Day, security researchers and Canadian military officials about potential military cyber threats, what researchers and the government are doing to prepare and how that compares to the preparations being made by other countries such as the U.S. and the U.K.

The documentary also examines the real-life use of cyberwarfare to cut off internet access to Georgia during the battle with Russia over South Ossetia in 2008. It also touches on the growing international cyber arms race that experts say "has the potential of spiralling out of control."

When I was looking yesterday for the lectern seal, I googled "Canadian government seals" and about all I got was pictures and commentary on baby f*cking seals. Why are you Canadians so obsessed with the little buggers?

Ummmm...actually it is the rest of the world that is obsessed with what a very few Canadians do to a few tens of thousands of harp seals every year (as opposed to the 3.9 million cows that get slaughtered every year in Canada).
