I often see US forces making extensive use of door gunners armed with GAU 17 (7.62mm) Gatling gun on their helicopters.
3 questions:
Does Turkey make use of Gatling guns on its medium lift helicopters (UH-60)? it would make a very good anti-personel weapon and can turn every UH-60 into a troop support helicopter.
Whatever happened to the Arikopter light recon helo? They should stick an externally mounted GAU 17 or GAU 19 on that, would really improve firepower.
What stops people from mounting a GAU 19 instead of a GAU 17? Is it more difficult to aim?

on WIkipedia it says Turkey is using GAU-17
although i never seen it mounted on a Turkish helicopters
and US army is using GAU-17 3 barrel version mounted on Humvees
and US air force Blackhawks use modified GAU-17
while larger transport helicopters use GAU-21

I think you should have been opened it in G&T but , nevermind .
Turkish Helos used as a troop transport at full (maybe over) capacity , 18 troops at 1 sortie. Because of that the Door Guns are not that popular at Turkish army. Lack of Room.

18 troops? In what, a UH-60? That's really dangerous, if it ever gets hit, that's a big loss. But seeing that Turkey has ordered another 117 T-70, effectively doubling the fleet size, I think we should install GAU17/19 on most of our transports. A Blackhawk armed with a minigun is a really good troop support, that way troops wont have to wait for an attack chopper to arrive.
I remember 13 troops were killed in a PKK ambush earlier this year because some stupid general sent tired troops into battle and then refused to send air support when they came under fire. Turkey should decentralize the battlefield decision-making process so that the infantrymen don't have to suffer from the decisions of generals who never fought a battle. In fact, instead of having generals that live in villas and plan coups using public money, I would prefer Turkish generals who are veterans of many battles, who live in barracks and personally inspect the troops that they send into battle.
On Wikipedia it says "Utility helicopter/Attack (Convertible at short notice)" for the T-70, does anyone know what that means?

a la AH60
About 18 troops issue , it is not always the common practice but when you need to mobilize a high number of troops in a very short time , That's the way to go.

Like this General? (former CoS Ilker Basbug the guy in my sig)
Or this? (the one taking point is a General FYI)
Son you should learn about these matters before speaking on them. Our current Chief of Staff was pretty notorious in firefights in the South East during mid 90's.

"Like this General? (former CoS Ilker Basbug the guy in my sig)" who lives under his Israeli masters who killed 9 of our unarmed citizens in an act of piracy on the high seas.
Like the generals who turned their guns on Turks in the 1980's, executed and tortured 1000's of Turks and staged a coup (one of many) against the will of the people.
Like the generals who ordered the disappearance and execution of citizens of Turkey at JITEM facilities, where bodies are being discovered by the dozen.
Like the generals who dismissed honest soldiers who didn't cooperate with the torture, and killed those who were planning to reveal wrongdoings (many soldiers and police officers disappeared in the 1980s, 1990s).
Like the generals who hid weapons around Istanbul and Ankara in hope of staging another coup, and killing and torturing more Turks. And they planned to blow up our mosques with these weapons.
Yes, those are the generals that I refer to as 'stupid'. They worked hard for many years to try to destroy our mighty and faithful nation.

IlgarD, that looks awesome. Do you know what armaments will feature in the T-70 version? I hope it will be some Turkish-developed weapons on our T-70s.

US Army puts Fuel tanks , Chain guns , Miniguns , Hydra 70 FFAR's and lastly ATGM Hellfire to her wings . I don't know what can be put to Turkish versions but I can imagine Roketsan Cirit and maybe UMTAS.

BluNexus5570, leave your political beliefs aside when talking about counter-terrorism. It'll help you understand much easier. I don't even need to respond to your "evil generals", Turkey was never perfect and it will never be perfect. It will always be a land of violence and ****** up things happening. Ya sev ya terk et.

So you want Turkey to "always be a land of violence and ****** up things happening", you hide behind 'patriotism' but these words of yours betray your true intentions. You want us to fail in becoming a prosperous and powerful nation.
Well whether you like it or not, Turks WILL make this nation prosperous and powerful. It WILL be a place where peace will prevail and injustice will be punished. The Ergenekon-PKK will be utterly destroyed through progress and development. Ya sev ya terk et.

Ha... When you show them the truth, when confronted with the damage that they've done to Turkey, Kemalists respond by swearing and saying nonsense. I don't have to say anything, your responses show you own ineptitude. Continue swearing and saying nonsense if that all you can do. (Although I warn you, you will be held accountable on the Day of Judgement).
"You can't change people, you can't change Turks."
Look around, the times have already changed.
I'm glad these people don't rule Turkey anymore. We will never return to the bad old days of 1980s, Inshallah.
No matter how much it angers 'patriotic' Kemalists, Turkey will be a House of Justice.
A House of Power.

Why I curse is none of your business, every day one of you ignorant AKP village boys who think they know about what the military needs and what it doesn't need show up and spread your dark ******* propaganda all over the place. Turkey in the 80's was a much loved place, it was in the 90's too. And now look, were at the brink of war with the entire middle east. Thanks to you ******* arap cocuklari we are in this situation. So yes, I will curse at you, and if it wasn't against rules I would curse about a lot more than just you.
