As you can see the middle T-72 takes an RPG round on its front armor on 0:08, but the tank suffers barely any damaged and keeps on moving because its ERA does its job.

Syrians should only have K-3 era. No K-5 and certainly no Nozd or Relikt. They have ERA for all their tanks, but plenty have been seen without it in these videos. GIGANTIC tactical mistake. Nice to see at least some unit commanders are smart enough to take a couple hours and install the stuff.

Wonder if this is another Libya in the making, but no matter who wins Israel is no better off.

So one tank killed with mine while another survives a RPG hit. The two videos are in wrong order. The mine one is first and then RPG hit comes after. You can see flames coming out of tank hit by mine in the RPG video so most likely everyone inside it is dead.

I don't think a RPG could penetrate a T72 in that area regardless of reactive armor are not. If they had aimed for tracks instead they most likely would have gotten kill on second T72 as well.

Why the Syrian army is trying to use tanks in a urban area without infantry support is the real question.

Taken together both videos show a Syrian army slowly losing a war in my view.

Just to add it looks like a case where rebels set up a fairly effective ambush of a known postion where Syrian army armor had stopped before.

Moral of that is never follow the same pattern on patrol.

To me it looks like those tanks were driven by grandpas. RPG looked weak. Assad couldn't last this forever right and vice versa. Who is going to stop the violence and the freely often western imported islamists? I would just resign and try to save my own Alevi azz if I was Assad.

Ok so what the fcuk were the other gunners/crew commanders doing from the time the RPG was fired, and hit the tank?? They all had turrets faced in that direction, yet none of them saw the general direction it came from? Either that, or the tanks were driving around with no ammo in them... because there's no reason not to light the position up.

Also, they are so many tanks, why dont they siege the enemy position from further away out of rpg range?
Wheres the infantry support?

You can't have dismounted infantry with K-3 ERA. An ERA block goes off and everyone around it dies

RPG hit looks like it was fired from a rooftop tanks main gun may not have been able to elevate high enough to return fire. I don't know enough about HMG arangement on that tank but to say for certain but if person has to stick there head out to fire HMG then I could see the reasons for not taking that risk.

No smoke grenades seems inexplicable but could well just be a issue of not having any of them to use.

Now someone has decided to put out fake video trying to claim tank hit by RPG exploded later. The last frame where video stops in link bellow is actually the initial blast of the RPG hit that lasts only a few frames before the smaller after effects that last a bit longer. If you can pause at right moment on the first video in this thread at 8 second mark you can see the initial large blast that the fakers are claiming came later.

So what exactly was going on in that first video? It looked like the guy from the one tank was putting explosives on an abandoned vehicle that was just off camera? And then in that second video again, they aren't returning fire after being shot at. Do they just suck that bad, or does anyone think they could be holding back because of ROE?
