"Peace is a precious and a desirable thing. Our generation, bloodied in wars, certainly deserves peace. But peace, like almost all things of this world, has its price, a high but a measurable one. We in Poland do not know the concept of peace at any price. There is only one thing in the lives of men, nations and countries that is without price. That thing is honor." - Józef Beck on the outbreak of WW2

Who is still producing PKM's? The Russian MoD stopped ordering the things like 15 years ago in favor of the PKP.

Technically it ain't PKM. Least the Prolish one. Look at the feeding mechanism :P

But to me its still a PK - if it qacks like a duck and walks like a duck - it is probably a duck.

It's Based on PKM but feeding mechanism is copied raw from MG 3. Heavier, but feeds smoother and is designed for NATO rounds. So consider it a weird fusion of both weapons.

After 1989 it was pointless to ask commies to redesign thier own gun for NATO rounds - and PK had it's problems.

PK is still a very good weapon - And I consider PKP as PK newest incarnation.
PKP also quacks like a duck to me :D

Your assumption is false, internally and externally differs much from the PKP. You'd expect it to as it's a new machine gun platform.

Actually Serbia still use our version of PKM, M-84, but not sure about production.
"Zastava" has offer for it so production is possible.
