The guy can play, really play, we know that. I sense that we will never sign any great players because we will never pay more than anyone else. That is a doomed strategy that will never result in signing a great player. We just window shop. At some point you have to have the guts to pull the trigger and pay up.
Is he worth as second? Yes, probably, because he is a rare one, a real player. A second round pick is just a a pick, prospect, nothing more. There is no guarantee there and the odds are greatly against getting a potential HOF TE with that pick. But, never mind-we just window shop anyway.
I think part of this is simply the TT political strategy that he uses- we are the youngest roster in the NFL every year excuse. You know what I want to see? I want to see the President and the board hold him accountable and say why can't we have a mature team? Why has he been a complete failure in signing any great free agents? But, that would require true oversight and this team has none. Nor do we have a regime bent on winning unless it happens by accident.
