You know what really sucks? Brett Favre's new attitude. "The Vikings are the best team he's ever been on?"
Why? All because his new team has gone 5-0 for the first time in his career? Yeah, like HE never LOST A GAME WITH A STUPIDLY THROWN INT? Right?
So what, does he think they will now win EVERY game? Because if he does, he's very wrong.
Out of these first five games, the Vikings have only played two teams who might have been even CLOSE to being competitive. The 49er's and the Packers.
My question is this:
How the heck does the team who won the division, get such a soft schedule?
Here's who they play this year and what their records were last season;
Cleveland 4-12
Detroit 0-16
San Francisco 7-9
Green Bay 6-10
St Louis 2-14
Baltimore 11-5
Pittsburgh 12-4
Seattle 4-12
Chicago 9-7 *
Arizona 9-7 *
Cincinnati 4-11-1
NY Giants 12-4
That's only THREE games out of 16 against teams with 11 or more wins. And in total, they only play against 5 teams that even had a winning record last season!
Their first 5 games SHOULD have been cake-walks. As such, it's nothing to brag about. And the rest appear to be against what should have been predicted to be the dregs of the NFL (if they stayed the same) this year.
IMO, any team at 9-7 isn't actually any better than an 8-8 team. It's not any indication of being a power-house. And with only 4 wins, you might as well lose them all and get the top pick in the draft. The sad thing is that Pittsburgh and Baltimore are both sucking right now. Although, in the second half of the schedule, Minny could be looking at some real competition.
The Giants are rolling already and if Pittsburgh and Baltimore can pull their heads out, they very well could be losing those 3.
- And since I fully expect the Packers to beat them at Lambeau ... that would be 12-4.
- I think the Cardinals will hurt them in Arizona. 11-5
- The Bengals just might have something together by then. 10-6
- And Seattle is suddenly looking way better than I ever expected, so who knows? 9-7 ??
Combine that, with Brett Favre probably starting to tank around week 9-10 and it could lead to the Vikings taking a real nose-dive.
Most of these loses I've mentioned will only be because of teams playing better than they were ever expected to his season. The basic fact remains, that even if the Vikings DID win EVERY game and get into the Championship game, you KNOW that Favre is going to lose the game for them.
He couldn't win a Super Bowl after his first and he had WAY more talent around him then and much better coaching than he does now.
Back in HS back in the 60's, if he was a female ... he'd have been referred to as a DT. The big egotistical SISSY.
Thus far, I have been pretty wrong about everything...I am just a bit concerned about the lions..All games are improtant, but this one really is going to be 'directional'.
Favre's abilities in the past two weeks have been surprising to me---he really looks good....more surprising is the Vikings 'weak' defense....they haven't stopped anybody--the lowly Rams moved the ball at will...actually outgained the Vikes and really changed the outcome by giving up the two unforced turnovers...
quite abit of season left...and Favre is going to find himself in several shoot outs.......it should be fun....maybe even a playoff rematch with the Pack...that is optimistic--even for me...
I do think it is a safe bet that Brett will not make it to the end of the season-----40 is 40 and he is gonna take some licks.
