Question, wouldn't Ahman Green be better than a Deshawn Wynn?

Green could be a third down back and be better than Wynn and perhaps even Brandon Jackson?

TT is getting crucified in the Media for bringing AG in, but I actually think that a 32 year old AG would be better than Brandon Jackson or Deshawn Wynn at this point.

Hard to say, but it's funny he's trying out so many RB's, he's clearly not happy about someone in that bunch.

I still think he should have kept that Sutton.

It would be nice to have the Ahman Green of about 5 years ago. He was a great runningback. Watching Grant being brought down by arm tackles time and again makes you appreciate just how tough he was.

Too bad about Jackson's injury and fumble--I think he could be a reasonable third down back....
Grant is okay, Jackson is okay...both would do better with a better blocking scheme and better personnel...but it would be nice to have Grant as the third down back and a legitimate star carrying the ball 20 times a game.

I liked Sutton, but I see he hasn't played yet for the panthers.

The team still hasn't made it "official" yet, but ........

I've been reading through the posts of others on a bunch of other boards, and it seems people are split about 50-50 on this. The ones who complain about TT not signing anyone and have said how Belichick always seems to sign veteran "throw-aways" and have them play better ... are still complaining, because he's signing a 'has been'. Better than signing another young player like Wynn who has talent but is always injured and out. I've read where this will be the downfall of this team for the season???

Personally, I think it could be a very GOOD move. But as I said before, only as long he is past the injuries and ready to play.

First of all, this guy really wants to play especially for the Packers ... so he'll be bringing an intensity with him that's hard to duplicate. And since this is probably going to be his last hurrah, he'll leave it all out on the field every time he plays.

I think it will also make Grant work harder, knowing that he is NOT the only real RB. But he will still be able to play and learn from AG while in the game. I think Grant will become a much better player in a very short time.

And ... the 'youngsters' will see what happens if you keep getting injured and didn't play all that great while you WERE healthy! - You get replaced by an OLD GUY ! - LOL
It seems to me that a lot of these rookie/kids think everything just stops until they get better. WRONG!

Other than having to expect AG to put a few on the ground, he was a good blocker who could pick-up the blitz to help protect the QB and still get open for the dump-offs when Favre needed him in 2000-2003. He can only make the O-line better. And let's face it, him putting a couple on the ground (he usually recovered most of them) is a LOT better than having the QB continually slammed into the turf and then having to punt their way out of a bad series.

He will command respect and bring veteran leadership that this young team seems to need right now. It's like they have a clue as to what they SHOULD be doing, but they don't know how to translate it into action on the field. And don't forget that a player who knows the game can explain what he's seen before, is seeing again, and how to get around it. Kind of like an on-field, player-coach.

If he can avert 1 sack and get us 2 more 1st downs in a game, he'll be worth it. I really think he'll elevate everyone's game around him.

Early reports say the quickness and burst are still very much there. I like this move, I want to see this player get 5-10 snaps a game-ish.

If he's on the field for screen passes, or an occasional run, I'm very OK with that. I think it will keep him fresh and able to flash when he's in there.

I like this move, even though I dislike TT after this year, I can't find fault in this move, it makes good sense at this juncture. I also heard where they're looking at Lumpkin or resigned Lumpkin? Does that sound right?

Anyway, always liked Ahman Green, got him cheap, he has a huge upside in a limited role IMO.

Finally, expect Ahman Green to become the Packers all time leading rusher by years end. Pretty cool he gets to come back and finish his career here.. Good stuff.

Yeppers! I think this will be a great move.
Seriously ... what can it hurt?

Plus this guy always wanted to be and retire a Packer.
Maybe ... just M A Y B E TT is finally realizing that it actually takes some veteran talent to elevate your game?

If so ... then maybe he'll also realize you can't wait until this time of the season to go looking for it?

SHOOT! Another flash-back from the 70's !!!! DANG IT! wink.gif

Have a good one
