Here's hoping for a total BLOW-OUT to get them back on-track.
They have to know by now that everyone thinks they could have (and SHOULD have) won last week if they had played the way they did in the 2nd half, right from the beginning.
They HAVE to know by now that they can't keep committing stupid penalties if they want to win. Not to mention holding the line without letting the other team stay in the game because you give them 1st downs instead of forcing 3 and outs!
It's time for McCarthy to get tough. Accept no excuses. DEMAND the higher level of concentration and the quality of football that this team is capable of playing. They have the ability and the talent, but they're apparently not being made to use it. Maybe it's time for another HC and still keep McCarthy as OC?
I didn't see it and only listened intermittently....and it does happen....but wow---what a big loss-----There is a whole half of season to be redeemed----but I think things look pretty grim for MM and TT----If you continue to make the same errors week in and week out...it don't bode well for the staff...
the glaring deficit in talent in the line and safeties--and taking Kampman out of his position------if they finish .500, I don't know how any of them could keep their jobs.
Yuck.
It's not a wish T .... it's just what I see as reality!
I continually see offensive plays starting that (for the most part) seem to be the right call ... but it hardly ever happens the way it should. Sometimes it's the O-line, sometimes it's Rodgers holding the ball too long and waiting for a play to develop. It's THERE. We HAVE the talent to make this crap work. It's GOT to be the coaching. Period!
I'm sick of reading stories on other sites written by self-appointed "football experts" constantly taunting how if we had only kept Favre ... yada yada blah blah blah ....
IMHO ... They all have MAN CRUSHES and should get a room! I'm looking at the overall ability of this team. I think that Rodgers could be great this year if he was on some other teams. It's a no-brainer. He's a really good QB who won't be able to progress beyond what we're all seeing right now because of pi$$ poor coaching. Now they're even starting to blame Capers. I think THAT is a crock. It's like saying that Mike Shanahan sucks as a HC. I have to wonder if Mike Sherman wasn't a better HC. At least HE made the guys play better than this with less talent.
I don't know ... I still think McCarthy could be a decent OC. He's done a good job with Rodgers and I think a major change (like firing MM) could be a set-back for him.
I just think what this team needs is a hard-core HC to right the listing ship.
I know this may seem like a knee-jerk reaction after a tough loss, but I think this organization needs a new GM and a new head coach.
And, this opinion has nothing to do whatsoever with Brett Favre. We all know that both sides in that situation made mistakes, and there is no use in crying over spilled milk.
It is now time to think about the future, and I do not see a very bright future with this GM and head coach. They are not exceptional at their jobs, they are not committed to excellence, and they cannot get this team to a championship.
A top GM knows that you have to win in the draft and in free agency in order to be a great team. TT has had 5 years to build this roster and they are simply mediocre - the rebuilding process cannot take forever and TT is out of excuses.
Fling!
A top head coach knows that you have to run the football effectively and not let your young QB get smeared every game. MM still cannot get his team to play 4 quarters of football to beat a good opponent...and, now he can add one of the most embarassing losses in franchise history to his resume. It's the same lame excuses after losses week after week, and the problems are not being fixed.
Fling!
I like Rodgers...he's good enough to win games if he gets an o-line that can block and a running game that is not just an afterthought for support. I think the Capers D needs work, but would be effective with better d-linemen and some LBs who could actually get home on a blitz.
IMO, you put the pieces in place around Rodgers and you get some FAs who can play the 3-4, and the sky is the limit...but they need to cut bait on TT and MM right now.
