I was talking to my buddy 'Rick the Bears fan' yesterday. I told him I would be rooting for this team (since I can't possibly expect BOTH teams to lose!).
It's his opinion that due to his team having so many injuries and no real chance, that they have already packed their bags for the off-season and are mailing-in the rest of the year.
I still can't see it happening. I hope it's too cold for a certain QB and they lose their collect @$$es.
Man, how big does that Packers win a few weeks ago at Chicago look now!!
I can't believe the Bears pulled it off!
Could the Eagles steal the #2 seed?
After seeing the Saints lose to Tampa and the Vikes lose 3 of their last 4, it really seems like anything can happen in the playoffs now...go Pack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought of this a little differently, as in how big the Tampa Bay, and certainly that Steelers game was. We would have been playing for the division championship, or even ahead in the division with 1 game left.
BUMMER!!
Like I've thought all year, die, choke you mother f%$er, I hope they lose in the opening round.
That loss wasn't on Favre, in fact had AP not fumbled they would have gone on to win IMO..
None the less, I want Favre to come up short, and I hope he throws a pick as his last pass of the season/career in the playoffs, in that uniform. I don't want that prick anywhere near the conference or the NFL championship game. Just my secret little hatred for him adorning himself in that f&^king rediculous uniform.
I don't blame the guy, he's made about 20 times th ammount of money in two years than I'll make after working an entire life, but to finish in a Vikings uniform was just wrong. He'll never be able to make that right IMO, that forever tainted my opinion of this player. I still marveled watching him last night, but it's simply a wrong ending to that career...
Yeah, but I think that the other thing is the Bears SHOULD HAVE had at LEAST 2 picks they blew! Had they not been stumbling around during that period, they might not have HAD to go into OT! Another thing is the blown FG attempt that would have ended it. (Boy, do we know about THAT!)
I also have to laugh about the fact that it was Hunter Hillenmeyer who made that tackle and caused the fumble.
The guy was drafted in the 5th round ... as a PACKER .... and CUT for not being all that good!
Bwah hah hah hah hah !!
Something else that's eating at me ...
Jon Gruden should book a room at a Marriot and have MAN SEX with Brett Favre. As an announcer, the guy has one of the worst man-crushes I have ever seen! It's SICKENING! Future HOF player or not, NO-body deserves THAT kind of praise.
Seriously, exactly what did he do last night that would merit the kind of praise he was getting?
Sure, he threw a few nice passes .... but ....
Against a Tampa-2 (which he has always struggled against) ... he continually threw under-neath passes and dump-offs.
He intentionally grounded the ball when pressured and couldn't find a receiver. Cripes! Cutler threw a few passes that either should have been caught, or were kited over a guy's reach.
When Cutler did it, it was,
"Jay Cutler needs to be more accurate. He needs to get that ball to the receivers."
But when FAVRE threw the same pass, it was,
"That receiver HAS to catch that ball!"
Seriously, WTF?
And I'll tell ya what ... at the end of that game, when Favre went over to Cutler? I guarantee it was nothing more than lip service and a photo-op. Like he was congratulating Cutler for beating him and his Queens.
I bet it meant nothing. When Cutler was asked what was said, he was a little hesitant and said Favre just gave him some (fatherly) advise.
Yeah, OK ... maybe ... maybe NOT!
I thought Favre looked haggard after that game. Not as bad as he did after the one he played for the Packers, but the press questioning him about still being able to playing in the cold sure didn't seem to help his mood!
IMHO ... he's still throwing the ball well ... MOST of the time ... but it's apparent that he's on the downhill side of the slope. When the Queens get into the playoffs, he's going to try to live-up to his own legend and the hype, then probably blow it big time.
Cripes they had no points at halftime, they put up 30 in the second half? Favre was rocking it!
He was pecking their eyes out, and ties the game on their final play with a perfect pass.
Favre played really well in that game IMO. To your point, he should have been picked in that final drive, but again, if's and but's, they didn't produce, gave him a second chance, and he pecked their eyes out.
That game wasn't on Favre, it was on AP. One thing about AP, he will drop the rock.
I guess my point T, was that Gruden was slobbering all over himself long BEFORE Favre started to come alive! They weren't doing crap and there's Gruden, praising him about one decent pass / play!
IMO, it's tiring to listen to. Over and over and over. My GOD ... even MADDEN wasn't THAT bad! LOL
It's just that I don't care for ANY announcer who misses plays because they are going on and on about just one player like he's the only one out on the field.
OR ...
Continually yapping during plays about some ancient statistic that's meaningless and then missing what happened.
I think I finally snapped when I heard him call another player by Favre's name for the second time!
(Which I've heard happen way TOO many times to suit me.)
KW, Gruden has openly admitted he wanted Favre when he was traded to th Jets, he was slobbering over the prospect of having Favre.
IMO TT f&*ked up by no making that happen. I realize TT got th best deal from th Jets, but had he gone to Tampa, Gruden would probably still be a coach and Favre would probably still be in Tampa, nearer to his home in Old Miss.
Hell, I even prognosticated Favre going to Tampa last year, and I had procured great seats in Tampa's stadium for the game we lost last year in Tampa. I would have likely made $750.00 on the tickets had Favre gone to Tampa, as it turned out, he went to NY, and I lost about $40.00 on the wager, but figured I've lost $40.00 at a Blackjack table inside of 5 minutes, so it was a wager worth taking IMO.
Gruden loves Favre, and rightfully so, just wtching him in that bears game, and to consider that dude is 40 years old, and playing at that level? Cripes man, he's #3 in the entire NFL at 40 years old, he's somethig special no doubt.
When he finally does retire, I'd wager to say you'll hear Favre himself as well as the media say something to the affect that the way he was playing, he could have played 4 more years.
This guy's numbers are better than 29 QB's in the NFL at 40 years old. Why the man crush? OMG!
He's a phenominal player, and all I could think is what if he had had the dedication to the Packers in 2007 that he had to the Vikings in 2009, in not turning it over. I'm fairly certain we would have won the SB in 2007 had Favre discovered the same dedication to the game he exhibits with the Vikings.
All I can think is that I count it an honor to have seen him play live so many times in my life, because he's certainly going to be proved by history to have been one of the greatest all time QB's to ever play, kind of like a Slingin Sammy Baugh kind of thing forever.
All this said, I don't want him anywhere near a conferance or NFL championship with tht team, it wouldn't be right....
In fact, in a perfect world, I'd love to see GB upset them in the playoffs and him ride off into th sunset with a Gianormous Explanation Point stuck up his 40 year old Vikings jersey wearing a$$... F65K him until he either retires a Packer, or enters into the PFHOF. Right now f him!
