Yeah JayB ... I agree with THAT!
I know it's a long-term contract ... but an EIGHT YEAR deal for $132M with $51.75M being paid over the first three years?
This one guy ... who isn't even a SB MVP ... whose team didn't even get into the nitty-gritty of the off season, sets the new bar height? All because the Lions are so worried that the one guy on the team with real talent might leave, that they totally screw-up the entire system?
Isn't it funny how it always seems to be the teams whose owners are rich, desperate and stupid?
And then if he goes down with a busted hand, arm or leg ... and can't play for an entire year, they've sold the farm. And while they might have lessened their bloated cap, but IMO, it's GOT to have some far reaching effects. Like ... how much is their QB now worth? Because 'GAGatron' ain't gonnna be throwing that ball to HIMSELF! If he was the only guy on the entire team who could catch the ball ... maybe I could see it. But he can't be any better than the guy throwing the ball to him.
This team stayed desperate and sucky far too long and now they are paying for it. The sad part is that down the road, this kind of 'crap-dealing' effects everyone else in the league. Maybe they should set MAX limits on contracts, much like they do for vet minimum?
So ... I now have a whole new reason to loathe and dispise the Motor-City-Kitties and their sickening head coach.
The Bears were also looking at RB Michael Bush? Forte is hooked to a $7.7M F-tag and they're still looking at a 27 year old RB? Sounds like maybe Barber is a goner? Or maybe they think Forte will go the 'hold out' route, so he'd be a back-up?
The Marshall deal- I can see wanting the talent .. but with all the baggage that comes with this guy? And the strong probability that it will only continue .... how long before he's arrested (AGAIN) and suspended? I honestly think the Dolphins had their fill of this low life and cut the cord for a 3rd rounder in both 2012 and 2013.
It does look like the Bears are trying to BUY Lovie a winning season ... but IMO, they still need more talent across the line ... and should have addressed that first! They have a fairly solid interior, but the outside is lacking. And if Cutler continually gets pressured because of it, Marshall isn't going to be making the difference they planned for.
OH ... and if the Bears think that they can 'handle' Marshall ... he's going to be in CHICAGO, not MIAMI.
BIG difference in the 2 areas. Extremely cold environment and the possibility for really bad things to happen.
And they aren't ANYTHING like the Patriots where after they won enough SBs ... their locker-room was solid enough to 'absorb' some of the veteran malcontents. Have ya HURD about any problems under Lovie?
Have a good one
