SWISS Connie 28 Dec Newsletter - update

January 3 2003 at 12:03 PM

Dear 'Connie' friends

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I just received the SUPER CONSTELLATION FLYERS - DECEMBER 2002 News letter
and wanted to shear some fantastic news with you, fellow Connie, enthusiast!

According to the newsletter it has been decided that the Super Constellation Flyers Association (SCFA)
will operate another Super Constellation and bring it to Europe in 2003.
The aircraft in question is the CHS Lockheed Super Constellation C-121C(1049) N73544 which at the moment is parked at
Camarillo Airport.
For the moment SCFA will not be the owner on the Super Constellation, but has an option to buy it in the future.
The aircraft will be repainted in the colors of our sponsor before the ferry flight.
The ferry flight and the success of this project will depend on various negotiations, which will take place during the first quarter of 2003.
As off February 2003 the SCFA website will undergo a complete redesign at http://www.superconstellation.org

What will become of the N105CF?

According to the newsletter: This aircraft will remain at Avra Valley and a possible restoration to full flight would still be
possible if there is any interest for it. For the moment N105CF will serve as a first rate source part for the SCFA flying Super Connie.

For more information contact the SCFA at: infoE@superconstellation.org

Thank you Mr Prophet for your message. I hope that from know more people are again believing in our project. I know it was a hard time of knowing nothing about our project.

My parents, my sister, my girflriend and me are the new german administration team of the SCFA. We're doing our very best to guarantee the best service to our members. At the moment we are reorganizing everything. There is a lot to do to bring an order in this confusion.

I hope that a lot of people will share our dream! Our dream of operating a Lockheed Super Constellation in Europe!

I wish you a very nice time!

Best greetings

Richard

Note: I guess that next week you can read all about the Camarillo Connie and the N105CF on the website: www.superconstellation.org

Dear Richard,

I'm happy to hear that 'your' Connie will come to Europe next year. It's really a great job to fix this all. It's also fantastic that there will be 2 flying Connies in Europe, next year. I know there are many 'silent' fans of your Connie.

Please inform us about the next steps!

I wish you a succesfull preparation in the next few months!

Best,
Frank Sangers

Misunderstanding

January 4 2003, 5:58 AM

I've to say that probably our group will not be able to operate both Super Connies. The problem is that our group and Europe is to small for operating two Super Constellations in one group. Furthermore we don't have the capital for operating two Super Connies. But if a museum is interested in displaying the N105CF we can prepare it for a ferry flight to europe.

Another problem is that it is nearly impossible to get an standard certificate for the N105CF. And we don't want to have only an experimental certificate because we want to fly with our members.

I want to thank you all for your interests in our group!

Best wishes

Richard

Two flying Connies in Europe

January 4 2003, 10:46 AM

Richard,

With 2 flying Connies I mean the Swiss Super Constellation and the Dutch Connie of the Aviodome Museum (NL). It will be great to see them flying, doesn't matter where in Europe!
Knowhow is built in both Switzerland and Holland and I hope both parties will cooperate to keep them flying, together with the experts in the USA and Australia!

As you know there are more static Connies which everyone can visit in Europe, especially in GB, F, D.

See
http://www.oldprops.f9.co.uk/Constellation%20census.htm

where they are.

enjoy and best,
Frank Sangers

Connies

January 4 2003, 11:19 AM

I also hope that we'll see two Connies flying in Europe. But I'm not sure if there is any chance to see the dutch Connie flying again. They don't have engine #3 and all four props. And as you know the props they need are very difficult to find. And also the engine is hard to find. But not as difficult as the props.

We have some spare engines. But not the same as the dutch team needs. And the props are also not the same. I guess the MATS team is the only Connie team that can help them. Because also the Australian team has a Super Connie.

But I wish the dutch team all the best and hope that they will bring their very beautiful Connie again in flying condition!

-----------------------------------------------------
PS: I've seen that the dutch team already has a new engine.
