      One of David Lynch's ten clues (which I just found out about yesterday) was: Who gives someone a key? Not sure if that means generically or in the movie, but I'm inclined to suspect it means generically, and I have no obvious answer. Given the symbolism of the key, though, particularly in the return from the Club Silencio, there must be some reason why the hit man was the person who gave it to Betty.
