When MD ended, we saw Betty and Rita together again. Then we hear "Silencio". But even before that, I remember when Aunt Ruth walked into her bedroom when Rita dropped the blue box. There was nothing there. Nothing she could see, anyway.
I think this movie is about a "haunting" on a continuous loop.
I believe that Diane had her lover killed and then killed herself exactly how we saw it. But I also think that the story is growing and changing "interdimensionally". If I'm right, it's the saddest ghost story I've ever seen.
