I really appreciated this movie after seeing it 4 years ago, because I like movies that get into your head, as opposed to those which you can't remember the title, what it was about, or later whether you saw it or not. When I began to watch Mulholland Drive I was expecting a basic detective story. Midway through, I began to wonder "what am I watching?" By the end I was transfixed by the strange turn of events. I thought it was constructed to suggest characters living in a parallel universe, but I realize that it is a story of what happened to a young actress told through her dream. This is an "artful" film that is one of the best, in my opinion. Another film that I saw at the same time was "The Others," which also gets into the head. |
